THE TKC SATURDAY NIGHT PLAYLIST!!! SWAGGER-JACKING DEAD TREE MEDIA CONSIDERS COUNCIL CANDIDATES TKC BLOG COMMUNITY REPORTED FIRST!!!

Tonight let's enjoy a bit of music and the fact that OUR TKC BLOG COMMUNITY leads the Dead Tree Media when it comes to reporting on 12 & Oak politics.

To wit . . .

DEAD TREE MEDIA COMPILES CITY COUNCIL CANDIDATES AND MAYORAL COVERAGE WE'VE PREVIOUSLY REPORTED HERE ON TKC!!!

Their write-up tonight and for Sunday's paper pretty much reviews all the stuff we've already noted FOR QUITE SOME TIME.

Proof . . .

Dan Cofran's consideration of a mayoral challenge was reported FIRST on TKC . . . And then Kraske discovered this fact a few weeks later.

Yes, we mentioned the plan to find a Northland Alliance to find 7 votes against Mayor Sly too . . .

Now let's review the Council "coverage" that our blog community already covered . . .

1st District: We've been telling you about Heather Hall and her public safety winning for monts.

1st District At-Large: Ditto about Council Dude Scott Wagner's play for Mayor Pro Tem because nobody cares about his part of Kansas City.

2nd District: More deets about Dan Fowler than the newspaper has were already reported by our blog community.

2nd District At-Large: We told you about Teresa Loar nearly six months ago.

3rd District: Bryan Dial's candidacy was reported on TKC FIRST as a bit of hope and a FORMIDABLE challenger to Council Dude Reed.

3rd District At-Large: We've reported extensively on this ALREADY contentious election and even provided deets on how Quinton Lucas raised an EPIC amount of cash to announce his candidacy. The newspaper spelled his name wrong.

4th District: The fight betwixt State Sen. Jolie Justus and John Fierro has become a favorite topic here on TKC.

4th At-Large: We broke news of Jared Campbell's candidacy first as well and we were surprised to see the antipathy against Council dude Glover.

5th: The newspaper has no coverage of this but we have a full profile of Jackson County Prosecutor Alissia Canady.

Also . . .

no mention of the legacy of Council Dude Brooks scandal amid his reelection news what we also noted first.

5th At-Large: Don't count on Dead Tree Media to report the VERY REAL RESIDENCY PROBLEMS CONFRONTING THERESA GARZA RUIZ!!!

6th District: Wait a few months for The Star to find out the State Rep. Kevin McManus has his eyes on this City Council spot.

6th District At-Large: I guess we should thank the newspaper for noting the very real talk about Council Dude Scott Taylor and Mayoral talk surrounding the dude. It's nice to be a resource for the so-called Kansas City paper-of-record.

And so . . .

CLEARLY OUR TKC BLOG COMMUNITY IS THE DEFINITIVE RESOURCE FOR MAYORAL AND CITY COUNCIL POLITICS IN KANSAS CITY PROPER NOW THAT THE STAR IS PRETTY MUCH SWAGGER JACKING ALL OF OUR COVERAGE!!!

And all of this has inspired our September splendor playlist tonight.

As always, thanks for THE TKC BLOG COMMUNITY FOR KEEPING UP INFORMED and thanks everyone for reading this week. Have a safe and fun Saturday night . . .

  18. PLAYLIST REVIEW:

Green Day--powerful social commentary with original music from this punk rock group from California's East Bay/Berkeley.

Earth, Wind & Fire--a classic from this R&B Soul Funk group from Chicago that are one of the most successful bands of their generation.

The Happenings--we go back to the 1960's for this one, and hear the mellow sounds of these New Jersey boys.

Andy Williams with Simon & Garfunkel--we stay in the 1960's for this classic of vocal harmonization with the S&G duo.

Nat King Cole--I believe we're stepping back into the 1950's for this mellow crooner. The son of a Baptist minister, NKCole became one of the first black Americans to host his own television program.

......and without further delay, the playlist rankings are:
    #5 = The Happenings
    #4 = Green Day
    #3 = Nat King Cole
    #2 = Simon and Garfunkel
#1 = Earth, Wind, and Fire

None of them are what I would call 'regular people'. But, then, even regular people consider regular people unqualified. So, you get suits. The suit is a uniform. A uniform of conformity. So, don't expect any new ideas.

Your city is poor. Only a poor man, or woman, could save it. Middle class people buy, buy, & buy. Its all they know. So, even though you face crushing debt, your middle class representatives will still spend, spend & spend. Its all the know.

    Rule #1: Stop spending money.

Rule #2: Call Local 42's bluff. Explain to them that they are only firefighters & that their current influence is disproportionate to that simple fact.

Rule #3: Call The Chiefs & Royals bluff. No more corporate welfare. If they threaten to leave, say good-bye. They don't do anything for you. You don't need them.

Rule #4: Fully fund the police department. Damiah White died because your mayor chose to spend money on a toy train, instead.

Rule #5: Conquer your own city. You can't conquer the world if you can't even conquer the east or south side.

This is what I would do.

I am a dialectical materialist. I have considered your situation & these are my recommendations for you, at this time.

We're all waiting for your recommendations, but all you can do is call me names. That doesn't strike me as very intelligent. If you're a winner, than I'm glad to be a loser, whatever that really means.

Your city does seem to suffer from an excess of bullies from the mayor right down to the school kids. For 500,000 people to get along a little civility is required.

  27. Byron Funkhouser9/28/14, 3:49 AM

In the sixty years I've been alive, I have always been honored & respected for my intelligence, & I have been all over this country. In only two places have I ever been routinely told that I am stupid. The first was my family of origin (made dysfunctional by alcoholism & co-dependency.) The second is this forum (made dysfunctional by anonymity & rethuglicanism.) In college my nickname was 'Ace' because I always got a perfect score. In the factory my nickname was 'professor'. Even the southern racists called me that.

I only mention this to explain to you that it doesn't matter how many times you denigrate my intelligence, you cannot overcome that sixty years of high regard (not to mention the three IQ tests I've been given.) You only convince me that you are stupid.

    ReplyDelete
  28. Nobody cares who your are, what you say, or what your opinions are.

You are wasting 6 hours a day in front of your computer thinking you are fighting the good fight.

In reality people are just trolling you and you are looking dumb with your ham handed takes on stuff that doesn't concern you.

My advice to you Byron is to get off your computer. Disabled people tend to use them too much as a crutch. Go out and experience the world. You only have so much time left. As you stated you are past 60. Nobody gives one shiat about anyone else's opinions here.

  29. I LOVE IT WHEN BLACK POLITICIANS CROSS THEIR ARMS IN CAMPAIGN FLIERS.

IT MAKES THEM LOOK LIKE GENIES.

    ReplyDelete
  30. There is a person who posts on here off and on who I know personally. I really doubt anyone on here has the IQ he does. At the individual level, most people define intelligence in their own image. Engineers define it in ways that describe a good engineer. Artists define it in ways that describe a great artist. Scientists, entrepreneurs, and athletes all do likewise. My definition would probably describe a good academic psychologist. There is considerable diversity in these definitions but also considerable overlap. It is the redundancy in the definitions that justifies the use of the folk term intelligence. However, the inconsistencies in the various definitions are real and thus require that the term intelligence remain ambiguous so that it meets the needs of the folk who use it.

IQ tests are 'meaningless and too simplistic' claim researchers, and this will come as a relief to those who failed to shine when taking an IQ test.
After conducting the largest ever study of intelligence, researchers have found that far from indicating how clever you are, IQ testing is actually rather ‘meaningless’.
In a bid to investigate the value of IQ, scientists asked more than 100,000 participants to complete 12 tests that required planning, reasoning, memory and attention. They discovered that far from being down to one single factor, what is commonly regarded as intelligence is influenced by three different elements - short-term memory, reasoning, and verbal ability. When you take 100,000 people and tested their brain function, we couldn't find any evidence for a single uniform concept of intelligence.
The best they could manage is get it down to three elements that contribute to intelligence. But they are completely different factors, unrelated to one another, and you could be brilliant at one and awful at another.IQ tests are pretty meaningless - if you are not good at them, all it proves is that you are not good at IQ tests.
It does not say anything about your general intelligence. The majority of IQ tests were developed in the 50s and 60s when the way we thought and interacted with the world was different.

Anyway my point here is this person who I will not ever point out is suppose to be a genius and then more it appears and I have seen the tests. My friend just laughs at them saying, "in the end it don't mean squat. That most people who claim to have high IQ's don't and those that do seldom talk about it if at all because they really know what it means to be so and feel no need to brag about it. Being a part of the smartest people in the world does not make you great if you do nothing with it." (I hope I quoted him correctly on this)

In short Byron we don't give a fuck how smart "YOU" think you are, you have demonstrated to many times your ability to be stupid and as well an extremely hateful person.

    ReplyDelete
  31. Out of the entire population of Kansas City this is what we get for leadership material? I guess even the true potential candidates even gave up and moved to the burbs.

    ReplyDelete
  32. The Truth and Nothing But The Truth9/28/14, 8:22 AM

I would be concerned if I scored 'high' or 'low' on an IQ test which I have never done. My policy has always been to act stupid then surprise everyone with how quickly I have picked things up, rather than be a know-it-all who people dont like.

    ReplyDelete
  33. Byron loves to tell everybody how smart he is, in West Virginia, in a trailer down by the river.

  34. Byron Funkhouser9/28/14, 8:56 AM

So I like afro american penis up my ass, does that make me a bad person????

    ReplyDelete
  35. 8:15 makes some excellent points. In addition, having been born with a high IQ does not mean the person with that IQ will ever put it to good use. May people with a high IQ are lazy, like Byron and to a certain degree, Mensa boy, and many, like Mensa boy, have no interpersonal skills and alienate those who could help them put their high IQs to good use. Most people with high IQs keep that information to themselves because they will inevitably be asked such questions as: If you're so smart why ain't ya rich? You have a high IQ and you believe WHAT??? And so on.

On the other hand, if you are a person who has accomplished nothing, like Byron and to a certain degree Mensa boy, then your IQ may well be the only way you have to claim to be unique.

Now as for Byron's recommendations beamed in from scenic Clarksburg, WV, on how we should vote for our local races, we will obviously give those recommendations the attention they deserve. In face we already have.

    Anon 8:15

I would have more regard for you, & your opinions, if you didn't call yourself Smartman II. Also, calling a sheepshagger & a child molester is not an act of great intelligence. How do you people know that I've never accomplished anything? You have no idea what I've been doing for sixty years.

The reason you discount my intelligence is because you have this fantasy that smart people should have the same opinions as everyone else. "If you're so smart, then why aren't you rich?" Smart people reject materialism & capitalism. Spending all of your days trying to 'accomplish' something or 'making something of yourself' is a stupidity that you really can't expect intelligent people to embrace. Money doesn't matter, only free time matters.

    Anon 6:54

And it is different for you? Why do share your opinions? My reasons for being here are beyond your comprehension.

  40. "Smart people reject materialism & capitalism."

Really smart people don't stereotype "smart people," lazy boy.

  41. I don't want to go too deep with this group, but really, how many of you have a need to touch or access municipal services beyond trash pick up and your water flowing? Sure, there is symbolism associated with the figurehead Mayor, but how many of you are really better, or worse, if Sly or Mike Burke is Mayor.

Good to be passionate about local government, just ask yourself, how much are these electeds really affecting your life, beyond modest water rate increases.

Just thinking out loud here, but for many, it's the chance to gripe?

    ReplyDelete
  42. Sheep shagger you can pack more bullshit into a comment than a fat Mexican with diarrhea.

Obviously the line between genius and moron is well defined in your case. It's MORON.

Nope, a sheep shagging, child molesting, hillbilly from WV should just shut the fuck up and go fuck his cousin/sister.

  44. This is the best we can do? Come on, Kansas City, Geez...wtf? I believe in our constitution and what it means. Is there no one out there with the right stuff, or the people in mind, the will and needs of the public? Civic unrest is at a tip of the iceberg. 50. I just assumed it was a term you picked up from some of Marx's writings while you were shagging sheep on the library grounds, assuming there is a library in WV. Marx, who wrote at a London library, never got out and involved with actual people. (He was too busy shagging his maid--for a one room apartment, yet.) Hence Marx, like you, wrote for a world he thought existed but did not.
