So, now the smart money isn't picking sides.
Over the weekend this thing GOT UGLY FAST with assault connection allegations coming from both sides.
Senator Marshall effectively busted the nice guy image of Rev. Hamilton.
And supporters of Rev. Hamilton invoked the ghost of Epstein in order to smear loyalists of the Doc.
Our question . . .
Strictly in terms of strategy: Was Senator Marshall mistaken in going negative with allegations documenting that Rev. Hamilton shielded an abuser GIVEN THAT those very same attacks didn't stop Rev. Hamilton moving past the primary???
What we should all be able to agree on . . .
NOBODY in politics brings up a sordid accusation like that if they're not desperate.
For the record . . .
TKC doesn't like either one of these empty suits.
Senator Marshall has never distinguished himself from the MAGA movement or done ANYTHING to signal that his conservatism or political skill goes beyond a popularity contest. So if he goes down in a blue wave it's really not a big loss.
Meanwhile . . .
Rev. Hamilton has convinced his supporters that he can advocate for them by way of homespun niceness and folksy charm . . . Which, ironically, is a facade that only the most desperate people will accept as reality. Rev. Hamilton has not elaborated on a single policy issue throughout his campaign and basically wants to leverage "good vibes" for a first-class ticket to the Beltway. Go ahead . . . If anybody can tell us what the Rev. thinks he can do to help fix the structural deficit driving the ballooning national debt, they get 15,000 (worthless) TKC Bonus Points.
In the meantime, here's the latest polling report that might (or might not) foreshadow a midterm anticlimax:
"The Cook Political Report officially moved Kansas’ Senate race into “Toss Up” territory Tuesday, a stunning development in a state that has not elected a Democrat to the U.S. Senate in nearly a century.
"With four weeks until Election Day, Cook shifted the contest between incumbent Sen. Roger Marshall (R-KS) and Democrat Adam Hamilton from “Lean Republican” to “Toss Up” as part of a broader ratings change benefiting Democrats."
