The accusation is a repeat and from the primary and one more the intense political gambits we've seen against the Leawood pastor.
As always, we're more interested in what readers have to say and warn most casual denizens of the discourse that the Internets is crawling with bots, foreign agents and political hacks all hoping to sway the electorate . . . Here are a few quick takeaways . . .
- Kansas GOP is CLEARLY concerned that they're trailing and this move might not be desperation but it's SERIOUS and signals an intense effort to make up ground.
- The story effectively destroys Rev. Hamilton's pristine nice guy image.
- The topic is off-putting and requires skill for Senator Marshall to address in public. There is a REAL RISK of this power move backfiring if local media ask him to explain the situation in greater detail because making these kind of accusations puts voters in a different mindset and could drive away election participation overall leaving the electorate with nothing to feel good about when picking a side in this contest. As always, turnout is key for both sides in this contest and will be the deciding factor.
- There's also a potential parallel to the Hunter Biden NY Post exposé inasmuch as local news HATE covering this stuff because it's so depressing that it causes people to turn away . . . Therefore, troubling deets might not be picked up in full by local news outlets. For instance, today we don't notice any other KC news station delving into this story and they didn't touch it Friday afternoon either.
And so . . . We share the quote and the link whilst we try to work on more inspiring stuff in for later in the day . . . Check-it:
"The US Senate race in Kansas is taking a nasty turn after incumbent Republican Roger Marshall’s campaign released a new ad accusing Democratic challenger Adam Hamilton of failing to report a pedophile who once worked at Hamilton’s church to law enforcement.
"Hamilton, who has served as lead pastor at Church of the Resurrection in Leawood for more than three decades, caught flak from a Democratic primary opponent for allowing the employment of Scott Moore, a church volunteer accused of molesting teenage boys at two retreats in 2005 and 2006.
"The Marshall ad, part of a $1.2 million buy that will run statewide on broadcast, cable and streaming services beginning this weekend, says Hamilton let the “child predator” return as a camp counselor in 2006 after allegations by two of his victims were ignored."
