Wrist Slap Enrages Locals After Deadly Downtown KC Mass Shooting

This week news from the courthouse sparks ire amongst locals who hoped that recent talk about drops in crime would hold true for the holiday season.

Because more than a few readers reached out, we wanted to highlight some of the reaction sent our way:

CHARGES FOLLOWING A DEADLY DOWNTOWN KANSAS CITY MASS SHOOTING INFURIATE LOCALS FRUSTRATED WITH TRENDING VIOLENT CRIME!!!

Here are a few messages following recent reporting . . .

"$5,000 bail, that's a typo right???"

Unfortunately, that number is accurate and can be confirmed from this line taken from the prosecutor's presser:

"Both defendants’ bonds were set at $5,000/10%."

And then this social media response . . .

"Misdemeanor with $5k bond.  Pathetic."

A few more comments picked up on this theme . . .

"TKC, you know that 4th-degree assault is a misdemeanor in Missouri, right??? That's not a very "aggressive" stance in a case where downtown was littered with bullets and multiple people were shot. This was literally a riot in the center city and charge is not much worse than spitting on the sidewalk. Shameful."

That description holds up . . .

The deadly mass shooting near 13th & Grand at the P&L District was one of the most significant events inside the loop in all of 2025.

The aftermath sparked outcry across the metro and even Mayor Q was motivated to play a controversial blame game with nearby parking lots.

Now . . .

On deep background . . . We've talked with insiders and they're hinting that MORE CHARGES MIGHT BE FORTHCOMING.

However . . .

There really is no denying that the social media response and public sentiment seems COMPLETELY DISAPPOINTED with the meager legal consequences involving a horrific spate of gunfire inside the loop.
