Sadly, the dream of the so-called "Downtown Renaissance" in Kansas City proper seems to be dying with every homicide near and embattled development inside the loop.

Homicide 13th and Grand
This morning, just after 4:00 AM, officers were dispatched to the area of 11th and Grand on a reported shooting. As officers arrived they were directed to a surface parking lot at 13th and Grand.
There they located an adult male victim suffering from gunshot wounds. KCFD Medics responded and pronounced the victim deceased on scene. Officers located four additional victims all suffering from gunshot wounds. One adult male had critical injuries, a second adult male had serious injuries, a juvenile male had critical injuries, and an adult female had non life threatening injuries.
Just after 6:40 AM hospital personnel declared an additional adult male victim deceased.
This is being investigated as a homicide. Preliminary information revealed there was an altercation between multiple individuals that led to shots being fired and the victims being struck. Detectives and crime scene personnel are on scene canvassing for witnesses, evidence, and surveillance footage.
