Kansas City Po-Po Insiders Debate Mean Jean's Mercy For Drug Dealers

This morning we have important followup on a longstanding debate betwixt the courthouse vs. the police.

The basics . . .

JACKSON COUNTY PROSECUTOR MEAN JEAN ALLEGEDLY PAUSES CASES AGAINST DRUG DEALERS DESPITE POLICE CONCERN!!!

Given that deadly violence continues to plauge KCMO and will likely get worse as the weather warms up. This argument over enforcement is a big deal . . .

Moreover . . . Allow us a personal aside . . .

Debate over drug charges is now Kansas City's consequence for weed legalization. Politically, in urban centers at least, there is no moral imperative to charge street level drug dealers now that local weed enforcement contradicts federal law.  This is a great time to be a local scumbag given the current policy confusion and the social justice crusade to push the nation toward drug decriminalization that focuses on supporting the addiction treatment industry rather than the prison industrial complex.

Here's background on the conversation . . .

Remember, we covered this topic not so long ago . . .

"A yellow sheet means the prosecutor's office declined to file charges on that case.  These cases include crimes for possession of heroin, methamphetamine, cocaine, property crimes such as stealing, burglary, among others.  The reason most of these cases are not being prosecuted is because the Jackson County Prosecutor's Office has deemed those that the cases posed no threat of violence and they do not pose a community concern."

NOW HERE'S THE LATEST WORD . . .

"A recent memo has emerged urging police to charge only "user amounts" against meth, cocaine, LSD, PCP, opioid pills without prescriptions & heroin. Until recently, possession of any of these substances resulted in automatic state charges . . . The prosecutor's office "yellow sheeting" cases because the defendant doesn't "pose a viable threat to the community" has turned drug arrests into a joke . . . Why not just legalize it all?"

Local journalists might be seeing this memo in the near future . . .

What we suspect . . .

THE ILLEGAL DRUG GAME SEEMS WIDE OPEN IN KANSAS CITY FOR SMALL TIMERS GIVEN LITTLE POLITICAL INTEREST TO PROSECUTE ANYTHING BUT MASSIVE AMOUNTS OF DOPE!!!

Obviously . . . Police frustration with this fact of life will probably make bigger news as Missouri talks about special prosecutor takeover in KCMO . . . However, thanks to insiders, our blog community is getting a sneak peek at the rising debate.

Developing . . .
