KANSAS CITY STREETCAR KILLING TRANSIT COFFEE BIZ!!!

About 7 years ago this blog was the FIRST local news outlet to report Kansas City streetcar construction hurting local independent biz and causing incredible hardship

Now it's happening all over again thanks to the poor planning of the streetcar extension and slipshod roadwork.

Remember . . .

Transit Coffee took over the former Oddly Correct location at Westport Road and Main.

The recent college grads who started the upstart KC java endeavor were hopeful and mistakenly believed city planners were looking out for their best interests.

Now . . .

KICK-ASS TKC READERS REPORT HORRIFIC IRONY: STREETCAR KILLING TRANSIT!!! THE TRAFFIC CONE MAZE AT 40TH & MAIN CREATES CHAOS & CHASES CUSTOMERS AWAY!!!

Of course KC Water has tried to explain their involvement but their excuses are usually only tantamount to veiled threats.

Instead . . .

We invite readers to check it out for themselves . . . On peek weekday hours the place is a ghost town. Weekends are only slightly better according to midtowners.

Of course the KCMO mask mandate doesn't help much but other restaurants inside city limits are bustling.

Sadly, the traffic cone nightmare encouraged by developers and transit hacks is chasing away customers from an otherwise delightful spot that should be among this town's trendiest locations.

Here's what's worse . . .

Instead of helping this biz and fixing the hot mess . . . Reprehensible Streetcar consultants, boosters and hacks will undoubtedly attack any allegedly "negative" messaging against their transit ponzi scheme.

Sadly, authoritarianism is becoming a far too common character trait amongst diehard progressives on the national level and all the way down to 12th & Oak.

Brief aside . . .

When the streetcar starter line caused this kind same kind of damage it took months for our local rulers to react by offering a few paltry signs reminding people that businesses were still open despite construction.

This time around there's little help because the gentrification long game is to move most of the broke-ass locals out of Midtown, steal their homes and build more expensive luxury living space and condos.

To be fair: This plan should work minus a few inevitable & tragic casualties.

But I digress . . .

Here's our only offering of compromise and possibly a solution . . .

TKC hopes that so many hipsters who supported this nonsense will HELP TRANSIT COFFEE WIN BACK CUSTOMERS that ill-conceived streetcar planning has chased away.

The very least that Staubio and so many other aging hispters could do is buy a pricey cup of coffee and share the social media love to show a bit of solidarity rather than ignoring the economic devastation  which has been inflicted on the people of Midtown by way of a gerrymandered vote.

Developing . . .
