There's a reason that violence and murder remain rampant on Kansas City streets and it has nothing to do with the wrongheaded racial rhetoric that often comprises so many crude, reactionary and ignorant comments on the Internets.
Plain and simple: Violence and murder persist in Kansas City at such a rampant rate because our community refuses to cooperate with police.
This isn't a new trend and it doesn't start with hip-hop music.
Omertà once ruled Kansas City's streets and shaped our culture of civic corruption. Tom Pendergast's Irish hoods and so many neighborhoods that supported their reign of civic graft also weren't fond of talking to authorities.
Among the new wave of Latino immigrants there's a constant debate among law enforcement strategies that would turn every brown person into a potential suspect and other approaches practiced at places like the Westside CAN Center that seek to build cooperation in immigrant communities and put emphasis on arresting violent criminals, not just people with paperwork problems.
Still . . .
IN THE AFTERMATH OF A SOUTH KANSAS CITY QUINTUPLE SHOOTING, IT'S A SHAME TO SEE THAT NOBODY'S TALKING!!!
Check the damage . . .
Shooting leaves KCMO police with questions, few answers
Tragic money quote that accompanies too many instances of violence in Kansas City . . .
"Investigators said they have limited information on the suspect, even though there was a large number of people present during the incident."
Recently, Jackson County Executive Mike Sanders launched a public information program to encourage cooperation against local violence but it's clear there's more work to be done.
NIGGERS say "don't snitch". Brilliant, ain't it???
ReplyDeleteDamn Irish, always causing problems. I'm not eating corned beef this year in protest, who's with me.
ReplyDeleteThat lack of cooperation with police starts with law abiding citizens.
ReplyDeleteBut when the Mayor's own spokesperson does nothing about gang tags one block from his home, which stare him in the face every night he drives home, is it any wonder that average citizens are complacent?
Total fuckin bullshit excuses as usual.
ReplyDeleteLets pony up some more money!!
It's a failed culture of violence, asualt, rape, misogyny glorified by the Media and African Americans in order to continue the pay off for the color of skin, as opposed to working on the content of character.
Total bullshit.
The incomperable Adam Carolla comes back at ya.
ReplyDeletehttp://dailycaller.com/2013/03/09/adam-carolla-rips-the-huffington-post-media-you-guys-all-have-blood-on-your-hands/
There is the truth.
It is an industry built on the wallets of whites and the backs the dead.
Omerta was a criminal code. So you admit that these people are all criminals?
ReplyDeleteHave Glazer fix it he fucking claims to know everything!
ReplyDeleteWhat a fat white snookie lookin cunt Glazer is !
DeleteWhy should they cooperate with the police? Just so the person can be charged and then given a plea or worst yet have the case dismissed because of poor police investigation or the prosecutor being lazy. Instead of focusing so much on the community, how about looking at the track records of Judges and Prosecutirs first in determining their ability to keep people in jail that should be.
ReplyDeleteThe street has the death penalty like it or not. Its quicker and cheaper than the state's system. Today's shooter is tommorrow victim and street justice is alive and well. The folks involved in these shootings like it like this and it will continue to be this way until the city focuses on jobs for its young folks whose unemployment is 50%
Carolla pegged it.
ReplyDeleteUh, 7:55, I hate to break it to you but any more young thugs working for City Hall and you'll be hauling your own trash.
ReplyDeleteAgain, the snip from the KC Star-
ReplyDelete"It’s not the first time the banquet hall has had problems. In 2008, with more than 500 kids attending a similar music event, six people were shot.
Dion Wiley, 20, died when he was shot in the head. Kevin D. Roberts, 17, was accused of killing Wiley and wounding two others. He said he was firing at someone who started shooting first. Roberts was convicted of second-degree murder, unlawful use of a weapon and three counts of armed criminal action.
For Saturday night’s show, “All Gold Everything/March Madness Twerk Fest” — which refers to dancing that emphasizes shaking the rear — promotion appears to have been done largely online.
That’s where young people were reacting to the shooting later Sunday, some tweeting that they had seen it, others expressing anger.
Dealing with rowdy teens has been a chronic problem in Kansas City.
“We continue to have an issue of finding safe things for kids to do,” Rotert said.
The Kansas City problem reached a tipping point on Aug. 13, 2011, when three teens — ages 13, 15 and 16 — were injured in shootings on the Country Club Plaza during a melee in which Mayor James was shoved to the ground by his bodyguards.
That chaotic evening prompted the city to adopt a summertime curfew of 9 p.m. for minors without adults at the Plaza and in four other entertainment districts. From October through Memorial Day, the curfew is 11 p.m. weeknights and midnight on Friday and Saturday nights.
The city also started providing weekend night activities at several of its community centers for about six weeks at the end of summer 2011. The program expanded in summer 2012 with “Club KC,” which drew more than 1,000 high school students on some weekends to the Brush Creek Community Center, to dance, swim and hang out.
The need to provide more youth programming was one selling point when voters last August approved a half-cent sales tax increase for the parks department and community centers. Part of that money is designed to keep community centers open longer and provide more youth activities.
The city manager’s latest budget proposal calls for spending $400,000 for weekend summer youth programming from that half-cent sales tax. But the mayor also has called for adding $5 to the city’s existing parking violation fines, which would raise about $250,000 more to sustain weekend summer clubs in six community centers. The City Council will vote on that budget proposal March 28.

DEALING WITH ROWDY TEENS-
My fuckin ass.
Dealing with African Americans whose parents have totally abrogated ANY responsibility with respect to raising their thug fuckin kids and will now arrogate the taxpayers coin of the realm for set asides, rec centers, special programs, quotas etc to do the job, they refuse to do.
What the hell are 13 to 16 year old kids doing out at a "Twerk" fest at 3AM?
SILENCE my ass.
Those fuckin parents, hell, what parents, legal guardians should be jailed with the last 2 generations of thugs that they and their parnents sent into the streets with no motivation other than to work the family business, "THE RACISM" business.
The KC Star notes that another 650K will be spent to appease the new Roman Mob in hopes that the damage will be mitigated.
Total bullshit.
I gotta go to work, but really, Adam Carolla is worth a listen.
Jobs? ROFLMAO. These kids aren't looking for jobs. If they were they'd pay attention and put forth effort in school.
ReplyDeleteThey don't want jobs. They want free meals, play time, and the opportunity to blame others for their self-induced misery. Loose shoes, tight pussy, and a warm place to shit.
Gimme, gimme, gimme.
You would think these assholes at City Hall would have learned throwing money at things you don'[t have a clue about doesn't solve problems by now.
ReplyDeleteIt's almost at the point to where the Mayor and his team of misfits are aiding and abetting crime by giving it nothing but lip service.
ReplyDelete"Yah were gonna do this were gonna do that yah, did that sound good, look good on TV?"
Actually, Tom Pendergast's Irish talked to the cops all the time because they WERE the cops.
ReplyDeleteThat's also why we don't have local control of the PD.
The Pendergast's excuse is really getting OLD.
ReplyDeleteEver other Police Department in the year 2013 seems to operate just fine under Local control. It's only in Kansas City where you have to quote from the 1930s about the Evils of local control. Time for Kansas City to join the "Modern" World.
Acknowledged, but just because something is different doesn't mean it doesn't work. You mean the "modern world" like when the city gave MAST to the fire dept?
DeleteThere is nothing wrong with the KCPD. The Mayors office is holding them back constantly from really getting tough on all these little thugs n' killas chewing up our scenery. Oh oh don't worry the taxpayers are going to finance little friendly family gatherings this summer for these kids!
ReplyDeleteSo let me make sure I understand this.
ReplyDeleteTo get free parties, community centers built in my neighborhood, have late night events for free, and basically get the world delivered to me on a platter, all I have to do is shoot 6 people at a private party?
Wow. I can't imagine how that rewards bad behavior. To get nice things, people just need to get shot. Innocent kids no less. Then the city will swoop in with taxpayer money and pave the place in gold.
Let me add to my comment above (10:51) how irresponsible it is to engage down this path. It gives people who do the shooting a ready-made excuse of "We didn't have nothing else to do." We've done midnight basketball, and every variation of the sterotypes. What a disgrace.
ReplyDelete10:31- I agree.
ReplyDeleteCity Hall is apolitical, fiscally conservative, financially responsible, and only cares about furthering the quality of life and serving the needs of the people who live, work and visit. Such a well run organization deserves the opportunity to replicate the excellence of their stewardship with the police department.
I got 15,000 reasons why the PD should not be controlled by local elected officials.
ReplyDelete"Violence and murder persist in Kansas City at such a rampant rate because our community refuses to cooperate with police."
ReplyDeleteWhat do you mean, "OUR COMMUNITY?"
"I got 15,000 reasons why the PD should not be controlled by local elected officials."
ReplyDeleteAnd...... What are they. Besides not wanting the Year 2013 and Google High speed Internet?
and PLEASE Spare us the Tom Pendergast crap.
That argument died with the dinosaurs.
When parents step up and take responsibility for their children, only then can we even hope to stop the violence. That is a fact.
ReplyDeleteKCPD plays basketball with the hoodlums causing all the crime.
ReplyDeleteKCPD is a joke.
"The Mayors office is holding them back constantly" The Mayors office is NOT holding back KCPD.
ReplyDeleteKCPD reports to the Board of Police Commissioners not the Mayors office.
Don't blame the Mayor for KCPD's lack of initiative to fight crime in Kansas City. KCPD is at fault.
Get out from behind the desk and get on the streets you fricking desk jockeys.
Spare us all the excuses of why you can't do your jobs.
The hood doesn't snitch because No One trusts KCPD. Why put your trust in an organisation too busy fucking over their own employees?
ReplyDeleteGuns don't kill people, niggers do.
ReplyDeleteIt's funny to me that when a half dozen white people get shot, we blame guns. When a half dozen black kids get shot, we blame the victims.
ReplyDeleteIt's still the same as it was 5, 10, 15 years ago. The only way to survive all the bullshit in Kansas City is to move out of it. If KC was such a grand fucking place to be the city would not be spending millions and years trying to coax everyone back into the shit pit it has become. Hell, even the businesses that can afford a move are getting the hell out. Just rename her Detroit II.
ReplyDeleteIt's a real shame that a whole lot more of these fucking maggots didn't get shot and shot GOOD.
ReplyDeleteBullshit, with your racial strawman 1243. When a half dozen whites get shot its more often something along the lines of a school shooting or a domestic matter. The witnesses come forward. When a shooting occurs at what was most likely a mostly black event, nobody sees Dick. When the witnesses and victims won't cooperate that is a good indication it is gang/thugs bullshit. Another valid reason you see a lack of concern is most of mainstream white America is tired of being blamed and called racist because a section of black society places zero value on the lives of their own people, their own children.
ReplyDeleteThank you for reinforcing exactly the point of my comment-- blame the victims.
DeleteThanks for supporting my point by completely ignoring the real issue. Your denial is why the killing will go on unabated. Now go scrub that liberal blood off your apologists hands. Try lava.
DeleteWith temperatures heading to the 60s this Thursday through Saturday, and all the basketball tournaments going on, lets see what happens Downtown, Westport and The Plaza.
ReplyDelete2:26
ReplyDeleteI don't think they call 'em victims, they call 'em "Doers".
Does Sanders really think the image of him standing there flapping his pie hole would make anyone want to snitch off anyone ? Hell he needs to get a handle on the crime going on at elitist Jackson County
