TKC BREAKING AND EXCLUSIVE NEWS!!! FREEDOM, INC. EARNS ANOTHER URBAN CORE KANSAS CITY ELECTION SWEEP AND LEADS WINNING MIDTERM PRIMARY!!!

This latest Kansas City election marks another IMPRESSIVE VICTORY for Freedom, Inc. against corporate and civic elite opponents.

To wit . . .

ONCE AGAIN, FREEDOM, INC. PROVED TO BE THE DOMINANT POLITICAL FORCE WITHIN KANSAS CITY'S URBAN CORE AND LAST NIGHT THEIR CANDIDATES EARNED A CLEAN SWEEP AT THE POLLS!!!

Freedom, Inc. featured candidates Frank White, Alfred Jordan and India Williams all won last night giving the group's top line ticket a PERFECT record in addition to their stand against TDD expansion.

(Note: India Williams won by 17 and is subject to recount but as of now, she still holds the lead)

This victory is impressive for a lot of reasons but first and foremost because of one factor . . .

FREEDOM, INC EARNED AN EPIC ELECTION NIGHT VICTORY DESPITE DIRECT CONFRONTATION AND OUTCRY FROM THE KANSAS CITY STAR!!!

The Star tried to play racial politics with the group and came up losing BADLY.

A Freedom, Inc. insider tells our blog community . . .

"Once again, we were proven correct, the Streetcar TDD was nothing more than a Tax Discrimination District and our community along with the rest of Midtown obviously agreed by a significant margin."

This is really worth calling out because it's clear the editorial board @ The Star has a vendetta against Freedom, Inc. and attempted a very cynical last minute strike against the group.

Columnist Steve Paul seems to reflect the arrogant Dead Tree Media attitude against Freedom, Inc. when he wrote that the group was "marginalized" . . .

IN THE AFTERMATH OF A HUGE ELECTION NIGHT VICTORY IT'S CLEAR THAT IT WAS ONLY THE KANSAS CITY STAR ATTEMPTING TO MARGINALIZE THE URBAN CORE POLITICAL GROUP THAT HAS EARNED A HALF CENTURY LEGACY IN THE COMMUNITY!!!

And this is one of our biggest problems with The Star. Rather than simply report, The Star seemingly wants to dictate the discourse of the communities they cover. Whether we're talking Conservatives or the urban core, the method is the same . . . The Kansas City Star attempts to control the conversation instead of letting people speak for themselves. In both their editorial and ensuing reporting, over the years The Star seemingly attempts to dismiss or diminish any group with which it disagrees rather than accurately convey the reality of the local discourse.

Last night, The Star was completely unsuccessful in attempting to mold Kansas City urban core politics to the will and worldview of the Dead Tree Media editorial board. Like some kind of blogger, they just couldn't see that the election night story simply wasn't about them.

Now, let's drill down further into the details of how this election impacted the urban core as we notice the influence of Freedom, Inc. is significant at the grassroots level as well.

FREEDOM, INC. EARNED AN OVERWHELMING VICTORY WITH THEIR COMMITTEE ENDORSEMENTS AS WELL LAST NIGHT!!! OUSTING MO HOUSE REP. BONNAYE MIMS IN PRELIMINARY RETURNS SEEMS TO BE A POINT OF PRIDE FOR THE GROUP!!!

Now, this vote is close . . . India Williams won by only 17 votes and this will go into a recount . . . However, insiders note that Ms. Williams put forth an amazing effort and Freedom, Inc. insiders revile the politics of Rep. Mims who they say "betrayed" the group. Some folks are counting this one as a loss for Councilman John Sharp as well.

Let's really get into the deets now . . .

THANKFULLY, BRANDON ELLINGTON WON EASILY!!!

No one can deny Rep. Ellington has a solid commitment to his community and he's one of the best elected officials Kansas City has to offer.

Also, the City Workhouse Castle is fun but nothing's gonna come of it no matter how much Daniel Edward's tries to pitch it . . .

Interestingly . . . The "We The People" effort to challenge Freedom, Inc. for committee spots fell flat last night and East side leaders are taking notice.

Now, Rep. Ellington was part of that movement and that's why he wasn't on the Freedom, Inc. endorsement list . . . Like it or not, in the KCMO Democratic committee member contest, there's just no getting around the fact that the urban core political gambit to challenge Freedom, Inc. was unsuccessful.

Seriously, somebody needs to get Rep. Ellington together with Freedom, Inc. and make the peace.

But again, let's not get off track . . .

THE TAKEAWAY FROM LAST NIGHT'S MIDTERM PRIMARY IS THAT FREEDOM, INC. NOW UNDENIABLY DOMINATES THE URBAN CORE POLITICS OF KANSAS CITY!!!

The Streetcar TDD Expansion followed the same script as the Jackson County Translational Tax . . . The other side had more cash and resources but still couldn't compete with the influence of this group who now enjoys ANOTHER EPIC VICTORY over Kansas City corporate competitors.
########

NOW LET'S LOOK AT SOME OF THE OTHER ELECTION NIGHT WINNERS AND LOSERS!!!

Mr. Peanut Proves Victorious Again

He put Frank White on the Legislature and killed the toy train without really digging that deep into his checkbook. In his golden years, there's no denying this KCMO's most important political denizen still has the Midas touch.

El Bryan Wins His Social Media Slap-fight With Toy Train Streetcar Cheerleaders

El Bryan has been the main opponent of the Kansas City social media transit intelligentsia who are mostly comprised of paid consultants tweeting propaganda nonstop throughout the day. Bryan Stalder's tireless devotion to fact checking this crew has really been a public service for those who might mistakenly believe that gaming the Internets represents real community support.

Patrick Tuohey And The Show-Me Institute Proved That Winning Boring Policy Debates Really Does Matter To Kansas City Voters

From a policy standpoint there really wasn't any streetcar advocate who could stand up to the research of The Show-Me Institute crew. This non-profit think tank made their opposition look like propagandists and shills . . . Which is pretty accurate anyhoo . . . They also provided a ton of data that was the product of study and not just public relations talking points dreamed up by Global Prairie.

By God, Bill Nigro Was Right!!!

Credit where it's due . . . Westport impresario Bill Nigro was one of the first Midtown KC business dudes to call out the tragic streetcar extension and he was proven correct last night. While Mr. Nigro and TKC might disagree about hip-hop . . . There's no denying the guy really has the best interests of Westport at heart.

Don't Get It Twisted . . . Dan Coffey Is Really A Pretty Cool Guy And A Dedicated Political Activist

Dan Coffey has been a successful advocate against KCI Airport destruction and now this toy train nonsense . . . Some of his e-mails might make his opposition bristle, but make no mistake . . . Mr. Coffey is also a dedicated enthusiast of our cowtown Democracy who hopes to improve local life (and keep taxes low) for ALL residents of Kansas City.

The People Of Brookside . . .

Before anybody else, residents of our favorite enclave knew this Toy Train extension nonsense was a bad deal.

Now . . .

LET'S LOOK AT THE LOSERS OF LAST NIGHT'S KANSAS CITY TOY TRAIN STREETCAR REJECTION!!!

Mayor Sly's Kansas City Support Is Quickly Fading

One thing is clear from last night . . .

KANSAS CITY MAYOR SLY JAMES DOESN'T HAVE A STRONG BASE OF SUPPORT EAST OF TROOST!!!

The Mayor's corporate agenda and hipster/social media/dancing style have alienated voters in the urban core who weren't willing to accept the Mayor's toy train tax increase argument on faith.

Council Lady Cindy Circo Just Looked Silly Pushing The Streetcar

Never has it been so obvious that a lady politico simply didn't know what she was talking about then WHENEVER Kansas City's nail tech Cinderella started talking transit . . . Sexy Cindy isn't a leader, she's a secretary taking orders for the corporate ruling class and her pitch really just reflected her lack of insight, respect or consideration for her constituency.

Kansas City Amateur Urban Planning Hipsters And The Creative Class

Last time around these creeps pretended to be "activists" in order to rig an election and then took consulting contracts IN THE AFTERMATH . . . This time . . . A real vote demonstrated absolutely no support for the pipe dreams of these Kansas City hipsters who are neither creative nor do they have very much class.

Everybody Hates Councilman Russ Johnson

More than anyone in Kansas City, Council Dude Russ Johnson lost last night and voters simply rejected his grandiose eco-devo toy train bright idea. Councilman Johnson is Kansas City's biggest loser because he seems to think that he's smarter than everybody else and even now doesn't realize that Kansas City voters know better.

Developing . . .

The choke hold that our politicians, in conjunction with the 4th estate had over our lives and what we used to take for granted as the truth, is at an end. The fact is, the Kansas City Star, the politicians in City Hall, the grifters on the East Side, the big Law Firms, developers and elites that held such sway over our lives by way of lies and missrepresentations and the ongoing disingenuous production of so called "facts" that were supposed to dictate our votes and sympathies are now vetted by blogs such as TKC all over the US.

The results of this sea change in the dissemination of the news is a far more egalitarian city complete with serious blow back for politicians and swells who neglect to check the wind before trying to feast at the public tax payer trough.

    Nice job Tony.

  8. Today's Star "Editorial"

Voters’ decisive rejection Tuesday of a special taxing district to finance additional miles of streetcar lines doesn't lessen Kansas City’s need for a genuine mass transit system. Nearly every other major city is more advanced in this regard, and employers, convention planners, real estate developers and young people looking for a place to settle have noticed.

The task for Mayor Sly James and city leaders now is to figure out how to make the funding for a streetcar extension palatable to more voters.

The mechanism on Tuesday’s ballot was problematic. It was the first step in what was supposed to be a two-step process. Though the vote was merely to create a taxing district, opponents effectively whipped up fears and resentment about a plan that ultimately might require some city residents to pay more sales and property taxes than people in other neighborhoods. In the end, Tuesday’s vote wasn’t even close — the taxing district failed by a 20-point margin.

City leaders are going to have to do better at selling voters on the economic development and lifestyle benefits of a streetcar line, or else find a more broad-based method of funding. Either way, they must act with urgency.

Which of course bides well for all those freedom fighters selling the victim card.

I might laugh or cry at the idea voters are awake to tax torture. But El Bryan supports McDonald's and Taco Bell. Screw that guy. Tax him into oblivion. [I *mean* that.]

Mayor Sly James has once again proven that you cannot win (successfully argue) every case; the larger war, the war for your hard earned income, wages on. And this defeat has distracted you from the boondoggle currently unfolding downtown. And it is a cancer that is going to incrementally devour you and any shot you had at pursuing your dreams.

  44. 1) The Star, again, proves itself to be the "Mouse that Roared" It has no influence because the only folks who are reading it are bloggers, city bureaucrats and KCPT folks. I do thank the star for firmly establishing itself as a completely irrelevant rag.

    2) Sly should be able to read the handwriting over the train vote. Cindy has done irreparable damage to her political future by picking the worst side of this trolly car mess. I would suggest the citizens of KC be vigilant because my bet is the city fathers will connive every angle possible to push this train initiative through. This is not the last time folks will have to shoot this pet project down at the polls.

    3) The gun rights amemndment not only shows that the entire city council was on the wrong side of the will of the people but is a perfect example of how those who perceive themselves in a position of power are perfectly willing to vote their personal agenda over that of the people. Were just one person on that city council in touch with their constituents they would have never passed that all but worthless open carry prohibition.

    4) Wouldn't it be nice if the Federal government provided funds to widen I-70 given all the money they have to waste on a downtown train? It is becoming pretty clear to me that folks are tired of the state legislature spending missions on sports stadiums, bastard children and other worthless junk and then requiring a vote of the people to fix up a silly damn road. How dumb is dumb? When Obama came to visit last week I wonder what he and the mayor had to talk about?

    4) Given that the State has to have a hundred new bureaucrats on the payroll just to wipe someone's ass I can't say the Veterans lost on the lottery. We also know well that it would have only been a matter of months before the State would have syphoned millions off for pet projects and built an entire bureaucracy around that lotto game.

    5) I don't think anyone understood the depth of the farming bill. Both sides looked like good guys and the education effort was more propaganda than fact on both sides.

    6) I don't think Kansas particularly bought into the X-ray gate issue with Wolf. For an incumbent Robertson's margin of win ought to have him chumming up to the Tea Party for the next few years.

    7) I was disappointed that the initiative to allow Hooters waitresses to go topless never made it to the ballot. This was the one thing that would have boosted chicken production and super charged the economies of both KS and MO

They just want to get paid and because they carry the "Freedom" name and legacy they get away with it. 1. You seriously think the fire "safety" sales tax is going to be spent on equipment? You're either high or dumb. That money will be going toward salaries. The KCFD, despite promising to cut their budget, blew through an extra $8 million in OT last year. You were conned by Local 42.

Missouri officials fear rise in fatalities after highway tax defeat

"JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. – Missouri transportation officials are cautioning that the state could see a rise in traffic fatalities and bridge closures following the defeat of a proposed sales tax.

State transportation commissioners held a subdued meeting Wednesday, a day after voters rejected a three-quarters cent sales tax for transportation by 59 percent of the vote. The proposal would have raised at least $540 million annually for the next decade and funded over 800 transportation projects.

Without additional revenue, transportation commissioners say that by 2017 they won’t have enough money to adequately maintain roads and bridges.

Commissioners fear traffic fatalities will go up if they can’t improve rural two-lane roads that lack shoulders.

They said the state could have to close some bridges if it lacks the money to repair them."

  67. It's been proven over and over that unsafe roads lead to a rise in fatalities, not just two car accidents but pedestrians and cyclists.

But hey you get what you pay for. And this is what we'll get.

Thanks Show-Me Institute! All those checks you sent to Tony are going to reap big dividends.

  70. Maybe we should stop spending $$$BILLIONS of tax dollars on ILLEGALS and fix some bridges.

  71. It blows my mind that many in KCMO, including the head chimp in charge, is more worried about a damn trolley car than the crumbling infrastructure, insane amounts of crime, piss-poor schools, etc. No wonder the city is in such a mess. Good job on voting the streetcar business down, now work on getting that big-feeling POS and his minions out of office.

  72. Well, if the fuckin Mo. Transportation Department is run anything like the fucking Water Dept. there is so much fat you could actually spend on repairs if you just cut the numbers of useless fucks working there, in government unions sucking the universe and america dry

    ReplyDelete
  73. Yeah, like fuck yeah right... Fuck and then add some more fucks for fucking impact.
Fucking good comment. Fucking keep it up.

    ReplyDelete
  74. Why would traffic fatalities go up just because they can't widen shoulders on rural two lane roads? Are these rural drivers more reckless now than they have been for the last 100 years? Are cars less safe now than 50 years ago?

MoDOT should come back with long range plans for maintainence and replacement and lay out a modest gasoline tax and/or licensing fee increase.

  81. Chuck may have hit it on the head this morning. The lard ass Mexican got just enough cred on this Ghetto Express Death March that opportunities to sell out will be coming and soon.

From some of the pendejo cocksucking (@10:01) that has taken place on a couple of these articles, it seems that the sell out is already in play.

The real player in Killa City is still the "ol man" and he bitch slapped everybody without spending 12 pack money.

Sly sounded like he had his hand up a hookers pussy last night. Makes you think there is a plan and it's only a matter of time till they run it out.

The first two miles of Toy Train will be a roaring success, or that's how the Choo Choo crooks will promote it.

The next fight will be Clinton Adams and Sly James 1 on 1 for control of the east side. Tony Guru Glorioso says the tax would have passed except for east of Troost votes. Sly can't afford to let sleazy Clinton get away with disrespecting him and getting paid to do it and talking smack about Sly's white wife. Sly is a mean motherfucker and my money is on him. Clinton is going down and Sly is going to install a new leadership team led by Glorioso protégée Quentin Lucas.

LOL, take that weak shit back to twitter. Now that you just took a (unsolicited) black dick up the ass, you're up on here talking about not letting them get away with that "big lie."

What's all that about the downtown streetcar being "fully funded?" Do you have a $100 mil lying around to pay for this soon to be fully revealed fiasco?

If I were you, I'd just take that Amtrak all the way to Brooklyn. You and Caleb can shack up and grow kale in your window box far away from any consequences here in CK.

  92. All the name calling and f-bombs, aside, it seems to me that we need to have some rational conversations about the long term future of our city. How can we build affordable transit systems that will help people get to where they need to go and be sound for the environment? How can we fund projects in a way that is fair? How can these conversations be held in a deliberative way without paid consultants making money off of "community input"--a fake term for push polling. A lot of people behaved badly here--the streetcar folks took the East side for granted and frankly acted superior and smug about real concerns. But the other side, the anti-tax and anti-street car side don't seem to have a long term vision for mass transit. Surely we can find a better process than the one which just unfolded.

  95. I think the city council commenting period is still open on the light rail ballot language that over 5,000 of us signed up for in 2011. It is already on the November, 2014 ballot by court order.

Yes, it is CC's non binding 1/8th cent tax for mostly real light rail. But our city officials don't even want the words light rail included. Again over 5,000 of us thought the words belonged there when we signed up.

In November all KCMo voters will get the opportunity to vote. Not just the few that our leaders cherry picked for us before whatever it was that happened August 5th. I hope that we can give the big brains downtown another smack down.

Educate the difference between light rail and streetcar.
