TKC Fact Check: Kansas City Airport STAYS LOSING In Rankings

Sadly, it seems that social media killed the memory of just about everybody in this town . . . Including newsies.

Consider . . . 

J.D. Power and Associates rated the old KCI as the top medium-sized airport in its 2010 North America Satisfaction Study

Again we remind locals that the old airport's NUMBER 1 RANKING was impressive throughout the American Midwest. 

And then . . .

Former Mayor Sly and so many politicos sold us an EPIC glass & steel cookie-cutter facility that didn't even have the decency to give pedestrians a dedicated walkway from the parking lot to the terminal. 

Now . . . 

NEW KCI IS ACTUALLY MOVING DOWN IN NATIONAL AIRPORT RANKINGS!!!

 An important not-so-fun fact . . . 

This week's press release touting a 4th place ranking OMITS that KCI earned third place back in 2024. 

The downgrade isn't a frivolous quibble and something that locals should consider as the new facility hasn't really lived up to expectations or promises. 

Of course, in fairness, we offer a more optimistic outlook so that readers can judge for themselves . . . 

"JD Power released its 2026 North America Airport Satisfaction Study, which ranked KCI fourth among large airports, trailing Tampa International Airport, Portland International Airport and Dallas Love Field for the top spot in the rankings."
