Jackson County Exec LeVota's Ethics 'Takeover' Raises Questions

A bit of political deep background & inside baseball for the midweek . . .

DESPITE AN IMPENDING DEPARTURE FROM OFFICE, JACKSON COUNTY EXEC LEVOTA SEEMS EXCEPTIONALLY INTERESTED IN ETHICS ACCORDING TO INSIDERS!!!

Here's a bit of description and a look at how all of this is playing out behind the scenes . . .

"The Exec is attempting to take over the office of Ethics, Human Relations and Citizens Complaints

"He just appointed a committee of freedom cronies, loyal to Bridgette and Kiki, to recommend a new majority of the ethics board. The board is supposed to be an independent body that oversees complaints against elected officials, directors, and otherwise untouchable folks that have conflicts for investigation. Now, why would The Exec be trying to take over that office?"

Actually . . .

There are more than a few reasons that some critics might suggest . . .

Remember . . .

The former Chief of Staff Theresa Garza has lawyer-ed up and things might get "testy" for Exec LeVota before he's out of office.

We remember that former Exec Frank White was an expert at using this office like a weapon in order to take on his enemies.

Also very likely . . . There are STILL a great deal of property tax questions to consider in the near future and renewed interest in this section of county government is probably a good move amid ongoing legal beef.

Either way . . .

Our www.TonysKansasCity.com blog community will continue to follow along even if the phrase "Jackson County Ethics" makes us laugh every single time we hear it.
