Jackson County Exec LeVota Answers Insider Ethics Appointment Critiques

Credit where it's earned . . .

Exec LeVota deserves a chance to respond to a recent op/ed regarding appointments and today he sent a thoughtful message our way.

Here's an extended quote that offers more perspective into his recent courthouse moves . . .

"The Office of Ethics, Human Relations & Citizen Complaints is just one of over 20 or so Boards that are appointed by the County Executive. When I took office, only 16% of the boards were filled and I worked on filling hundreds of spots. Most all boards are now filled and are able to meet and do their jobs. Before I took office, many boards could not even meet because of vacancies. Most recently, there are vacancies on this board and, like I did with hundreds of other vacancies, I entered an Executive Order appointing them as I am supposed to under the law. Legislator Jalen Anderson raised an issue over an appointment I am told because he felt the person was not supportive of his campaign, but I cannot say that is the case. Your insider is trying to misinform the process. The County Executive appoints all the boards so an appointment is not trying to "take over a board." And of the appointments I have made, I do not know who would be considered "freedom cronies, loyal to Bridgette and Kiki" as these recent appointments have no connection to them . . ."
