Jackson County Legislator Megan Smith Opts Out Of Reelection Bid

An important 3rd District announcement seems important as her predecessor Tony Miller is making a comeback as a Republican. 

 Here's the word and probably a preview of Freedom, Inc. looking for a more cooperative candidate . . . 

"One of the most effective parts of being a leader is recognizing when one’s priorities must shift. That’s how I know it’s time to take a pause from public service. I will not be seeking re-election to the Jackson County Legislature. December 31, 2026, will mark the end of this leg of the journey — but not the end of my run.

"In the days ahead, I plan to redeem the time with my family and embrace new challenges as a wife and mother. I’m sure I will discover new ways to serve the public in a private capacity. It’s liberating to finally feel I have the option of choosing what I want to do next without any reservation or obligation to stand watch. My primary focus for the future is growing and nurturing my family, who have already sacrificed so much for me."
