Jackson County Recall Polling, Turnout Hope & Replacement Timeline

As early voting continues in the "Total Recall" of Jackson County Executive Frank White, we have a few interesting deets to share that might provide some hints as to how this process will play out.

First, the unions did a bit of polling and the results are surprising . . .

According to insiders, Jackson County Exec Frank White only garners a 14% job approval rating.

That is a precipitous drop for an elected official who triumphed over challengers by double digits in general elections and only had one serious primary challenge which he managed to outlast.

Another interesting fact about the upcoming election . . .

Insiders are predicting low turnout but don't think it will improve the Exec's odds.

The reality is that most voters will sit out this election BUT with so much antipathy against the Exec, it will be even harder to turn out sympathetic voters.

Finally . . . A peek at the future via www.TonysKansasCity.com reporting . . .

IF the recall is successful, insiders believe the process of replacing Executive Frank White and appointing his successor will only take a week.

Here's the word . . .

"Already, there's a lot of work going into making this process efficient and without any problems once the voters have made their decision."

An important perspective . . .

"This is really classic Kansas City politics. You have unions, elected officials and some of the most influential people in the metro working behind the scenes on this campaign and what we're going to see is an effort to build consensus and hopefully a plan to move forward."

Developing . . .
