To be fair, many critics argue that they should eat their losses.

Kansas City’s chronic housing shortage is pushing builders to launch a new campaign aimed at cutting red tape and boosting home construction. The Home Builders Association of Greater Kansas City unveiled its “Let Builders Build” initiative, which leaders say is designed to raise public awareness and push policymakers to make housing a top priority.
