Kansas City Weekend Bloodshed Debunks Promises Of Progress

At the conclusion of Sunday there were at least seven people killed in Kansas City this weekend. 

Depending on results from the Medical Examiner's office that number could spike even higher. 

At the end of 2024, locals are obliged to remember that both Mayor Q and the new Prosecutor touted "progress" against deadly crime last year because of a slight dip in the numbers.

This year the numbers have been spiking all year long yet Mayor Q highlighted lower numbers in Jackson County at start of last week.

HOMICIDES CONTINUE TO SPIKE IN KANSAS CITY DESPITE POLITICAL ASSURANCES TO THE CONTRARY!!!

We hope that this latest spike subsides but, typically, Summer is the most violent part of the year in KC Proper for as long as most residents can remember. 

So far . . . 

The response has been more assurances . . . And in fairness, we'll share more reporting along with this statement from the Prosecutor's office . . .

Jackson County, Missouri, Prosecutor Melesa Johnson called the outburst of crime, with multiple people dead and others hurt in shootings in and around the metro overnight, “unacceptable.”

“This past weekend, Jackson County–particularly Kansas City–was rocked by an unacceptable wave of gun violence. It is both heartbreaking and infuriating to witness such senseless loss of life, especially in a moment when we had begun to see signs of real progress. We recently shared that homicides and non-fatal shootings are trending down south of the river. But this weekend’s violence is a painful reminder of just how fragile that progress can be,” Prosecutor Johnson shared in a statement.
