CHECK MAYOR Q SPINNING KANSAS CITY CRIME NUMBERS WITH HOPEFUL PERSISTENCE TO "KEEP PRESSURE" ON CROOKS WHO ARE CLEARLY STEPPING UP THEIR GAME!!!
To be fair . . .
And because we think the Mayor is still in France enjoying his vacation/junket . . .
The fight against crime and to maintain public safety is eternal and required vigilance . . . BUT let's review the facts . . .
- Homicides are UP over last year 10% and moving forward at near record breaking numbers.
- Over 18 women have been killed in KCMO so far this year . . . A scary uptick that puts vulnerable ladies at risk.
- Property crime & small biz targeting persists with several recent late spring robberies.
As always . . .
Summer is the most challenging season of crime fighting when number tend to spike.
And so . . .
We'll share the Mayor's perspective and hope that readers come to their own conclusions.
Check-it:
"Challenges remain, but I am appreciative of real progress seen in recent violence trends out of the Jackson County portion of our city. Homicides are down 8%; non-fatal shootings are down 46%. More arrests and prosecutions are being made on serial burglars in Jackson County/Kansas City.
"We will keep the pressure on.
"This doesn't work without collaboration and hard work by KCPD, our Jackson County Prosecutor Melesa Johnson, and our City initiatives to ensure we address prevention and re-offense by targeting problem businesses and areas."
