Jackson County Legislator Abarca Contests 'Missing Persons' Report

Again . . . Our task here at TKC has always been to help readers understand how the news works and facilitate conversations that offer an alternative take on the local discourse.

We talked about this topic at the outset of the weekend . . .

The update and more news occurred last night . . .

This morning it's important to provide equal time and highlight the official statement from the Jackson County Legislator in the midst of this tense situation.

The basics . . .

MANNY ABARCA DISPUTES "MISSING" CLAIMS IN WHAT IS CLEARLY DOMESTIC DRAMA PLAYING OUT IN LOCAL MEDIA!!!

Real talk . . .

Most of us have been in some kind of "domestic situations" that we wouldn't want to share with even our closest friends & family . . . For elected officials . . . Their personal lives often serve as fodder for news reports and voters often feel entitled to all the deets . . . Like it or not, that's how the world works.

Even more real talk . . .

From our vantage this seems like a divorce conversation temporarily gone public that probably won't/shouldn't get much attention given that local MSM has downplayed so many other sketchy cowtown personal drama like local judges with relationships on the rocks, council members and questionable dalliances or even the curious living situations of our top leaders . . . In KC we mostly kind of politely ignore this kind of thing.

And so . . .

This statement from Mr. Abarca and latest word that contradicts claims on TV news last night . . .

"It has come to my attention that a 'missing persons' report has been filed erroneously concerning my son and me. Please rest assured we are not missing and that we are both safe and healthy."
