Kansas City Activist David Johnson Ditches Crossroads

After two decades of meddling in local politics and browbeating just about everyone who questioned his "transit" visions . . . David Johnson says he's kissing KC proper goodbye.

Until very recently Mr. Johnson served as chair of the Kansas City Regional Transit Alliance, a Streetcar rep. and a member of the KC Crossroads Arts District Board.

As the Royals & Chiefs get ready to ditch KCMO it's also important to mention that he was also a vocal opponent of the downtown stadium.

And now . . .

TKC TOLD YOU SO!!! SO MANY KANSAS CITY "TRANSIT LEADERS" WERE NEVER REALLY COMMITTED TO OUR COWTOWN!!!

Like it or not . . .

Mr. Johnson was a prime mover behind the streetcar and so many other transit schemes.

Don't like those dumb e-bikes that are all over sidewalks . . . Mr. Johnson touted them as transit solutions for KCMO.

And now he's not going to stick around for the aftermath of his advocacy.

To be fair . . .

Here's a much more sympathetic view of his impending departure from another scribe that's mostly supportive of the downtown agenda . . . Check-it:

"David Johnson, a huge advocate for downtown and the streetcar, and a passionate Crossroads resident for as long as I can remember, has posted on Facebook he's moving to Leawood.

"While I am bummed to leave the Crossroads after 21 years, my travel schedule and multiple Coffeyville projects make being in the middle of it all -- and the deteriorating quality of life in KCMO when we are home -- no longer worth the expense. Vroom-vroom is the name of the game," he said.

When someone that dedicated decides it's time to leave, it's a huge red flag the unwillingness and/or inability of KCPD and City Hall to address our growing quality of life issues is sabotaging all that's been achieved the past 20 years.
