Blame Game Begins: Missouri Politicos All Talk On Keeping Kansas City Chiefs

Just as TKC insiders predicted . . . A familiar argument is taking hold.

We wrote this up last month and today it passes for "news" on the front page of the newspaper:

Kansas City Will Blame Republicans For Losing Chiefs & Royals

Basically . . .

Kansas City & Missouri are setting themselves up for the VERY SAME debate we've been having over police funding.

Jeff City GOP denizens prove pathologically hostile to the urban core whilst KCMO leaders direct all of the world's problems & injustice against Missouri Republicans whilst taking ZERO responsibility.

For those who think that Chiefs won't leave city limits . . . The reality is that there's very little stopping the teams from traveling FURTHER than locals might imagine.

Context

Let's not forget that HUNDREDS OF LOCALS HAVE DIED whilst the Jeff City GOP fights with KC progressives over police issues. The drama over baseball & football is inconsequential by comparison.

And this article hints at a truism that insiders keep repeating but doesn't come out and say it . . . So here goes:

If Missouri elects SecState Ashcroft to Governor . . . Then all Missouri pro-sports subsidy is off the table, he has promised to veto EVERYTHING

And so the deadline to get something accomplished probably already passed. And now, in the not so distant future, the taxpayers of Kansas City, Missouri will have to enjoy hipster LGBTQ bars rather than back-to-back Super Bowl champs.

Here's the newspaper hinting at the inevitable this morning . . .

"The Missouri state legislature could be described as at a standstill, and that would be putting it kindly. And we’ve already seen Jackson County, from executive Frank White to the voters themselves, rebuff the teams’ proposals. Those are precisely the two sources of revenue the Chiefs are hoping will tag along for this ride. A recoil in Jackson County, therefore, would require they thread multiple needles. Forget whether they’d have the appetite for that — nobody, as of yet, is offering them a bite. The Chiefs have not had substantial dialogue with any level of local government — the city, county or state — about their next steps in Missouri . . ."

As Kansas lures the Chiefs, here's why the path to staying at Arrowhead is complex

After Jackson County rejected the Kansas City Chiefs and Royals' plans for stadiums, what's next in KC for the football, baseball teams?
