Last week our blog community helped to call out blatant antisemitism by a members of leading local housing activist group.
On Sunday . . .
The group FINALLY issued a public statement attempting to explain the words of one of their leading members and their sketchy statements on Israel/Palestine relations in the past.
Again, they argue their divisive positions aren't antisemitic even as their sentiments don't represent ANYTHING close to what mainstream Jewish & Israeli membership groups have said about the current, tragic war in the Holy Land.
A rough analogy . . . Their statements are akin to a group of white people CLAIMING to represent Latinos but calling themselves Latinx despite widespread opposition to that term.
However . . .
In this instance there's a more serious issue at stake.
Context . . . Whilst KC Tenants demands a ceasefire and argues for an end to U.S. funding of the Israel war effort, Missouri Senator Hawley hopes to redirect funding from Ukraine to Israel.
Consider . . .
KC TENANTS HAS IMPLODED OVER THE PAST WEEK & NO LONGER HAVE MUCH CREDIBILITY OR LOCAL LEGITIMACY!!!
They claimed "victory" in one of the lowest turnout elections KC has ever witnessed and CLEARLY the group is jam packed full of whackadoodles who can't be trusted to craft municipal policy given their outright hatred.
It gets worse . . .
The explanation of their rhetoric is hollow and FAILS to explain so much hostility toward Israel over the course of the group's career.
Ironically . . .
They're using the old . . . "Some of my best friends are . . ." excuse that's even more laughable coming from an organization claiming to represent the urban core.
The reality . . .
KC Tenants is a sketchy bunch filled with radicalized extremists.
Their rhetoric throughout the years as been decidedly pro-Palestinian without much regard for terrorist tactics.
And now . . .
The group is attempting to equivocate and feign centrism . . .
"We grieve the violence of the ongoing occupation and the escalation in Gaza this week, funded with our tax dollars. We call for an end to mass displacement and mass killings. No more.
"Yesterday we took time in the tenant meeting to grieve the loss of human life. Jewish leaders grounded us in the memory of their ancestors. They said never again. They said not in our name. We reflected on Palestinian struggle for life, for freedom, for home."
"Our leaders called for us to demand ceasefire."
You decide . . .
