We can't blame biz newsies look for the best in recent polling data. The jorb of a biz newsie is mostly to write hack pieces for advertisers and not any kind of detailed analysis that might grab the attention of the cowtown C-suite conquistadors. God forbid those creeps spill any mustard on their $500 ties.
Nevertheless and, again, apropos for #TBT . . .
Crusty TKC readers reliably search for the FAR MORE IMPORTANT touch of grey in every silver lining.
And so . . . We start with this news about KCI ranking that deserves another look . . .
"Kansas City, J.D. Power reports, ranks in the middle of the pack at 13 of 27, beating out several major airports in the large-sized category, including LaGuardia Airport and Washington Dulles International Airport. Airports scoring the highest in customer satisfaction were Detroit (mega), Minneapolis-Saint Paul (mega), Tampa (large), John Wayne (large), Indianapolis (medium) and Southwest Florida (medium)."
For those who are REALLY reading the news . . .
The argument here is new KCI earned progress over old KCI numbers.
However . . .
Longtime Kansas City residents remember that old KCI was actually ranked even higher.
Proof from previous coverage . . .
12 SHORT YEARS AGO KCI WAS RANKED AS THE BEST IN THE NATION!!!
And so this not-so-fun fact can't be dismissed as mere obsolescence.
The airport was 38-years-old when it topped a nationwide list and had already adapted to the post-9/11 world. And we hope this fact of life can put today's hype in perspective . . .
