Kansas City Small Biz Disappointed By Lackluster NFL Drafts Returns

To be certain, the NFL Drafts was a big deal and provided some great publicity.

However, just as our blog community warned . . .

THE NFL DRAFT DIDN'T REALLY HELP KANSAS CITY SMALL BIZ!!!

Again, we warned that the closed-off design of the event really prevented much participation from locals who weren't selling stuff inside city mini-city . . . Our headline that called out the disappointment in the making . . .

NFL DRAFT ORGANIZERS BUILD THEIR OWN CITY INSIDE OF KANSAS CITY RATHER THAN INCLUDING LOCAL ENTERTAINMENT DISTRICTS!!!

Clearly that applied to nearby small biz as well.

Here's the word as outcry continues to build . . .

Mildred's Kansas City, another cafe with locations in the Crossroads and the Historic 9th Street District, responded to Cafe C Ph, and shared that while its proximity to the NFL Draft and proximity likely helped gain it some traction, the lack of local visitors resulted in a below-average three days of sales.

"Were all pretty bummed in the lackluster results of this event," Mildred's commented.

Something to consider . . .

THAT $100 MILLION WORTH OF "ECONOMIC IMPACT" HYPE CLEARLY DOESN'T APPLY TO THE LOCAL WORKING-CLASS!!! THE EVENT WAS CORPORATE & MOSTLY EXCLUDED SMALL BIZ!!!

Of course there might be a few exceptions that prove the rule . . . But mostly, this the NFL Draft reminds us how casually our local leaders dismiss merchants, people and neighborhoods without political connections.
