Greedy NFL Draft Avoids Kansas City Entertainment Districts?!?

Preparation for a highly touted local event reveals a curious strategy . . .

NFL DRAFT ORGANIZERS BUILD THEIR OWN CITY INSIDE OF KANSAS CITY RATHER THAN INCLUDING LOCAL ENTERTAINMENT DISTRICTS!!!

Consider . . .

Here's a shot of the 2019 NFL draft in Nashville which was an outstanding success and benefited their local biz . .

Meanwhile in Kansas City . . .

The NFL Draft will give parts of downtown a boost but fans are mostly crowded into the Liberty Memorial /Union Station complex and relegated to a swath of KCMO that isn't really known for anything but museum offerings.

A few more things to consider . . .

- The crowd for Kansas City is now estimated at 600,000 and that seems a bit optimistic.

- Economic impact speculation rises to $125-MILLION without any independently verifiable proof.

- Driving anywhere near the loop will be a hot mess BUT people are still scratching their heads about calling off KCPS and casting students away to the "virtual learning" running joke.

 And here's where things get real . . .

OVERWHELMING BUT NECESSARY SECURITY MEASURES & SEPARATING FANS FROM ENTERTAINMENT DISTRICTS LIMITS KANSAS CITY'S NFL DRAFT BENEFIT!!!

Hotels will get a bump and patrons might go exploring after the festivities . . . But for the most part, the layout of the event that's emerging doesn't seem to offer much contact with any authentic element of KCMO.
