Mike 'Hatchet Man' Fannin Finally Quits Kansas City Star

An objective bit of praise for this Kansas City newsman . . . 

Nobody fired more journalists in Kansas City than Mike Fannin.

His penchant for playing favorite and stoking petty personal politics was nearly as legendary as his temper. 

Today the newspaper notes his departure BUT PLAYS DOWN HIS RECENT DUI.

Also . . . 

Let's not forget that his most famous move was apologizing for the legacy of his newspaper in a public display of white guilt groveling that NOBODY asked for OR appreciated. 

Here's today's note . . . 

Fannin, who joined The Star in 1997 and had been its top editor since 2008, had been on a leave of absence since mid-October.

Greg Farmer, The Star’s managing editor since 2016, has served as interim executive editor in Fannin’s absence and will continue in that role until a permanent replacement is named.
