JACKSON COUNTY PAC FUNDING FIGHT AHEAD OF EXEC VOTE!!!

This morning Jackson County Legislator Theresa Galvin called into question Jackson County Executive Frank White's campaign financing via a Facebook post.

She put the note on blast throughout local media . . .

It's not clear how much coverage she'll get out of it but we do know that local reporters are always hesitant to pay too much attention to last minute efforts from candidates because they know most of it's empty rhetoric . . . And social media has yet to prove effective in determining the course of local elections.

However . . .

Voters will remember that Exec Frank White has endured a great deal of questions about his campaign finances. And reasonable people have expressed skepticism about his record involving financing & money. Remember that our blog community also pointed out an INTERESTING donation a couple of weeks ago.

On the other hand . . .

The social media post might not be a great move for Legislator Galvin . . . Campaign finance is hard to explain to voters and we're not sure how many people the message will convince.

Nevertheless . . .

The contest for Jackson County Executive will be the most accurate indicator of a "red wave" for the Midterms. Republican Legislator Galvin has the opportunity to make history with an upset against an incumbent who has garnered decades of history in the Kansas City metro. If she wins, the victory would send shock waves through the local Democratic Party and reveal a shift in American politics that resonates locally.

That's the big picture and what we think is most important.

Now, here's her side of these story with a link to more deets . . .

FROM JACKSON COUNTY LEGISLATOR THERESA CASS GALVIN . . .

"As most of you know, from the day I filed for County Executive I have taken the high road no matter what was thrown at me. This post is not meant to discredit my opponent, he doesn’t need me to do that for him . . . .

"This post is to inform you, which I have set a precedence of doing for the past eight years in my position as a Legislator.

"It has been brought to my attention that a PAC (Political Action Committee) was formed on October 21, 2022, in support of Frank White, Jr. for the office of Jackson County Executive. If you look at the report filed on October 31, 2022, you will see the initial contribution made on October 25th in the amount of $5,000 was from JE Dunn. JE Dunn was awarded the contract to build the new Jackson County Detention Center and gave the Legislature a price of $256.5 million now due to “cost escalations” the price tag is well over $300 million. I serve on the STEERING Committee for the new detention center and regularly attend the meetings. The current County Executive also serves on the committee, his attendance is sporadic at best.

"The next contribution was made on November 1st also in the amount of $5,000 and was from Lockton. Lockton is the county’s broker for property insurance and will broker the insurance for the new detention center.

"It makes me wonder why these contributions were made through a PAC and not openly reported on the candidate’s campaign MEC report.

"The PAC is named Good Government Matters PAC. I find that ironic."
