Kansas City Talker Pete Mundo Disputes Activists & Serial Killer Rumors

Right now there's a local journalistic fight over the narrative of local crime reporting.

As we noted over the weekend . . .

Reporting on an alleged "sex dungeon" in Excelsior Springs, Missouri has sparked renewed claims of a local serial killer which have heretofore been debunked by KCPD.

Here at TKC we had second guesses about this narrative after activists attempted to politicize the suffering of women who might be been working as prostitutes in order to survive a myriad of hardships.

Today, one of Kansas City's top talkers offers his hot take on this debate . . .

So far there isn't any response.

What we think might be important is that close news watchers were finally able to identify that author of the initial online video as a VERY CONTROVERSIAL East side bishop who has confronted serious legal questions about property loans among a litany of complaints.

And so . . .

Again, we advise news watchers to WAIT FOR VERIFICATION until believing serial killer speculation.

Accordingly . . .

Here's an important bit of local news that just hit our feeds . . .

Everything we know, and don't know, about the Excelsior Springs, Missouri rape and kidnapping case

NOTE: Details in this story may be considered graphic to some. The details read like a horrible true crime podcast - a woman showed up at an Excelsior Springs, Missouri, home pleading for help. She said she'd been taken from Kansas City, held in a small room in a basement, bound, beaten, and raped.

Police refute serial killer rumors in Excelsior Springs investigation

LIBERTY, Mo. - An investigation into a suspected kidnapping and sex assault case expands, as officers work to quash rumors that it is tied to a possible serial killer in the Kansas City area. The Excelsior Springs Police Department asked the Clay County Investigative Squad Task Force for help in the ongoing criminal case against Timothy Haslett, Jr.
