Kansas City Police Accused Of Deadly Westport Ale House Gunfire Amid Dearth Of Info

We'll get our bloggy opinion out of the way quickly on this post . . .

It's simply taking far too long for an official statement after the Westport Ale House mass shooting. As of this writing there hasn't been any determination from law enforcement about who killed a person during the tragic incident and how the events unfolded. The delay has sparked frustration and, even worse, allegations against police in the absence of verifiable evidence. A week is simply too long to wait in this era of instant digital global communication.

To be fair . . .

TKC has reported that KCPD has provided more info on Friday and added the victim to the KC Homicide tracker

We've suggested this might provide a hint that police aren't culpable but that's just hopeful speculation or, more likely, an indication that the circumstances of the shooting are COMPLICATED and . . . As many reported from the scene . . . Gunfire was rampant during the chaos.

However . . .

We're not being unfair in noting that the delay has provided far too much time for public frustration to take hold . . . We're merely reporting a fact.

Today . . .

Social media allegations against are gaining traction police . . .

Here's a quote from a PUBLIC POST that is garnering hundreds of shares across Kansas City. We're going to withhold the name but, again, the post is public and gives voice to widespread speculation about this incident . . .

"After the Kansas City Missouri Police Department murdered my brother by continuously shooting him on the ground. They have failed to provide any answers but had the nerve to reach out to me and ask for permission to search my brothers phone which I legally own. My brothers phone has nothing to do with why he was murdered and I would like it back as it belongs to me. Further more Kansas City Missouri Police Department could have pepper sprayed the crowd to deescalate the entire situation but instead they allowed it to continue and proceeded to use excessive force murdering my brother. Mayor Quinton Lucas has been silent in our demand for answers. The police are suppose to be public servants and they have yet to disclose how the incident unfolded. The Westport Ale House declined to answer any questions as soon as I spoke with the manager she quickly stated no gun were inside the and had nothing further to say. This leads me to believe Westport Ale House did not provide proper safety the night my brother was murdered. Westport Ale House just because y’all have paying people to post for y’all does not mean the public will believe it. I will continue to shed light on this situation daily. I have time! #JusticeForCardellCrawford

Again, here's what's important and what is factual . . .

These allegations are UNCONFIRMED and so far there is no official statement from law enforcement on how the victim was killed or even the events that led to the spate of gunfire.

What we do know is this . . .

There has been a week long delay in sharing info with the public and now DURING ONE OF THE HOTTEST WEEKS KANSAS CITY HAS SEEN IN TWO YEARS . . . Public frustration is obviously rising regarding a controversial shooting in one of this town's most embattled entertainment districts. Our hope is that police will share info and our elected leaders, media and community voices will act responsibly and help the public process the details in order to avoid further human misery.

Realistically . . . It seems like this situation is just turning into yet another divisive hot mess.
