Debating 'School Police' Solution Amid Federal Gun Control Crackdown Effort

I'll save busy readers some time here . . .

Of course the problem with this idea for securing schools is . . . Racism. Of course.

Still . . . There is at least an acknowledgement that there are people who argue for more school resources officers in good faith.

In fact . . . A reasonable discussion about training, guidelines and best practices for SROs is just the kind of boring argument that takes all the fun out of culture war slap fighting.

Meanwhile . . .

Let's not forget that a very brave SRO helped stop a recent school shooting in Olathe, Kansas and earned commendation from politicos on BOTH sides of the aisle whilst the newspaper doubted the guy's heroism in protecting students, teachers and staff.

Nevertheless, this blog serves to share worthwhile ideas and this discussion merits consideration from reasonable people who should be working diligently to stop school shootings regardless of partisan politics . . .

"In the wake of the mass shooting in Uvalde, John Oliver discusses the push for more police in schools and whether they are the answer to our school safety issues, or a new problem altogether."

Again . . .

Whilst acknowledging that SROs can be a AN UNMITIGATED DISASTER without proper oversight and community cooperation . . .

Some of the issues raised here deserve consideration given that this proposed solution to school shootings seems like the only workable plan that doesn't include dismantling the Constitution.
