Westport Suffers More Gunfire After Security Cut & Kansas City Police Fade

Last week we noted more trouble in Westport.

Sadly, the story remains the same after security checkpoints have been scrapped but crowds remain rowdy.

Accordingly, check insider testimony on the topic . . .

WESTPORT

Haven’t seen any reporting from local media on this but two people were yet again shot in Westport last night in separate incidents near Mill Street.

Recent reports from the district mentioned the end of screening for weapons due to a lack of security employees.   Could this be a factor in this weekend’s violence?  Likely.

Or is it just that Westport continues its historical competition with 18th and Vine for the most violent entertainment district in the city?

Add in the diminishing police force due to resignations, retirements, lack of funding, etc.  and it seems that events like this and many others will become even more prevalent throughout Kansas City.
