Kansas City Public Works Picks Up After Homeless Camps

As Kansas City struggles to keep up with the homeless crisis, our blog community notices valuable resources spent on illegal urban campers.

To wit . . .

KANSAS CITY PUBLIC WORKS NOW PROVIDES REGULARLY SCHEDULED PRIVATE TRASH PICKUP TO HOMELESS CAMPS!!!

Here's the word sent to www.TonysKansasCity.com as local leaders work to find compromise amid legal threats . . .

"I guess the only way to win is to avoid paying into the system at all . . . At least twice a week the homeless camps at the former Chouteau Courts site are enjoying taxpayer benefits while they're trespassing. Rather than telling them to move along, the administration provides trash pickup. Certainly, there are other neighborhoods in Kansas City that would enjoy the same level of service and carefully organized cleanup."

On this topic we're torn . . .

Trash around local homeless camps has reached dangerous levels and our blog community advocated for a trash pickup plan.

However . . .

We hoped part of that effort would shut down sites that were creating a mess.

Even worse, the Chouteau Courts site remains TOXIC and it would be better for everyone if the EPA declared Brownfield was uninhabited.

Sadly, like most half-measures from city hall . . . This "solution" has only prolonged suffering for nearby residents and FAILS to resolve the crisis.

Developing . . .
