On this dreary Sunday there's just a bit of hope that 12th & Oak has started listening to neighborhoods who oppose the upcoming tiny homeless village plan.
The latest . . .
A COALITION OF NORTHEAST LEADERS HAS EFFECTIVELY HALTED UPCOMING TINY HOMELESS HOUSES PROPOSED BY THE MAYOR'S OFFICE!!!
The group includes business people, neighborhood leaders and longtime residents.
The victory is significant but only applies to the first location that city hall leaders proposed.
Background about the process . . . The mayor seems to be delegating the idea and the City Manager's office FINALLY took calls from this group and seemed to understand the intense resistance confronted.
Now . . .
This is one battle in an ongoing fight and there are more locations are soon to be announced. Again, during a recent zoom meeting regarding this idea there didn't seem to be ANYONE excited about having a semi-permanent miniature homeless camp in their backyard.

DeleteTruth.
Tony, if Northeast Kansas City had any "Leades", the Neighborhood wouldn't have been allowed to turn into the cesspool it has become!
ReplyDeleteA few Slumlords bribed enough Councilmembers to kill this idea, and you know it!
^^^ +1
DeleteNortheast is changing, jackass. It's not the same place you remember from the last time you visited 20 years ago.
DeleteThe effectiveness and the sustainability of the "tiny house" idea to address the homeless population hasn't even been seriously studied before, as usual, Lucas and the gang have gone charging off in the direction of their latest cliff.
ReplyDeleteWHERE something like this might be placed is another issue entirely.
Ready!
FIRE!
Aim!
has become the real mark of this embarrassing administration and the unintended consequences and their costs keep mounting.
Can't some adults at city hall at least try to slow this demolition derby down?
Sad.
Put them under the Berkley Drive bridge.
ReplyDeleteThat's were they live, anyway.
Some are employed and preparing your meals at your favorite restaurant. The homeless that are working the employer needs to pay a living wage. And then there are those on drugs and alcohol. That small house community will be riddled with crime.
ReplyDeleteWhen i dumped i lumped. After i lumped guess what i did? Dumped. Good morning chimpys
ReplyDeleteSo bums can't take care of themselves, but they will take care of their tiny houses and neighborhood full of fellow bums? Hmmmm.
ReplyDeleteKC Homeless Union has a program to end homeless folks in Kansas City. The Land Bank was just offering houses to homeless people. KC Homeless Union counters with the need for those 10k empty houses to be saved is the best place for homeless in Kansas City to work and save those houses. Many houses need to be boarded up securely even those houses that titles are being held by out of state landlords. The exchange will be volunteer credit hours to develop group living for low income, victims of violence, LGBTQ Youth and ex prisoners. These houses will be spread about the east side not to "ghettoize" the homeless population. Keep in mind not all of the east side is ear marked for gentrification. The plan for gentrification was marked at Hwy 71 but now we are seeing Indiana as the G Zone.
ReplyDeleteThe Land Bank is a scheme to keep housing sales high in the metro. Affordable housing is not in the scheme of things.
ReplyDelete75th and Holmes would be a perfect site for the "Tiny Village" in the midst of all the lovely homes with BLM signs.
ReplyDeleteCome on Brooksider's you vote for this crap; now welcome it in YOUR neighborhood. Fucking Frauds that you are !!
Yes BLM signs. Biden signs all over Brookside. Put them in brookside. The new Bidenville

ReplyDeleteWill tiny people live in he tiny village ?
Asking for a friend............
I am confused and sleepy and have a wet diaper; please someone help me !!!
I am too young to drown !!!
Diaper Joe Biden
How about these people pay rent like everyone else? Then they don't have to ask anyone's permission.

ReplyDeleteHOW BOUT GET A JOB LIBERALS
ReplyDeleteThe last time the city/federal government tried any mass shelters for the homeless in Kansas City was Wayne Miner Court. Anyone whose has lived in this area for long knows they supposably became obsolete because of blight and crime, although they were built just 27 years before being blown all to hell. Yes my friends free and assisted living housing was destroyed by those it was built for to live in. What a waste of money that was then and will be again.
ReplyDeletePeople have time and time again shown that if it's free they have no respect for it and will destroy it. If it is free then they will want more and more while tearing up what they have and blaming you and me for it. You can bet if I was offered a place to live in for pennies on the dollar I'd be taking damn good care of it and be thankful as hell for it.
Look the fools such as Lucas/Biden created the mass homeless situation we are seeing now with their locks downs, free handouts, lack of prosecutions and handing money by the millions to illegals and other countries. The more free they offer the higher the numbers will go for those seeking it. They just want votes and to hell with you and I or the country as a whole.
Homeless people isn't something new, it has been taking place since the beginning of time. Yes since the beginning of time man and woman together has had to seek out shelter be it a cave or a shelter they built and over time they learned to build better and better places to live in.
Now this country's thinking has gone totally backwards beyond the days of living in a cave to thinking we the real tax payers need to provide homes for those who would rather live like bums over trying to work for a living in short making sure lots of caves are to be found for free shelter in.
A lot of the possible lack of jobs and places to live along with the total number of so called homeless is the high number of illegals/legals allowed into this country and allowed to stay instead of returning them to where they came from and not tax our welfare system beyond it's abilities. Allowing folks into our country should be allowed but under tight control and in very limited numbers same as a lot of other countries do.
The term, home of the free and the brave does not mean everything is for free. And that's just the mentality that is taking over American now instead of the old the buck stops here you ain't getting anymore freebies.
Two apartments up north are supposed to absorb most of the homeless.
ReplyDeleteVia the tax payers for sure.
ReplyDelete
ReplyDeleteTons of jobs available these days..restaurants desperate for workers..
but..why work? ..when the Dems keep using taxpayer money to give the bums yet Mo' Free Stuff..
12:16pm let's put the derelicts, the bums, the drug addicts and the violently mentally ill in your neighborhood. I can see there's already a good start there with people like you. Uneducated morons looking for a bigger handout from taxpayers who actually earn a living. Don't spend your welfare check all in one place.
ReplyDeleteLucas and his dorky sidekick are searching for the least powerful place they can dump their homeless mess. A place where the residents have little power, money-wise and status-wise. They thought they knew the makeup of the Northeast. Obviously they were wrong. These guys aren't intelligent, but they're sneaky, immoral and corrupt as all get-out.
ReplyDeleteShows you what mayor mckneely really thinks of the northeast, he hates the northeast, it shows that when ever he has a problem with homeless people and whoever else he try’s to dump them them there.
ReplyDeleteMaybe lickass should ask sLIE to come in and help him with the homeless, sLIE didn’t have any issues with homeless people when he was in charge.
ReplyDeleteAs someone suggested a few days ago put them in the vacant Sam's town casino building. There is plenty of room and the railroad is close for riding the rails.
ReplyDeleteAs an alternative house them in the caves. Advantage of this is when the KCPD comes to hose them down nothing is damaged.
Again. Put them in Lucas' backyard. No one knows where he actually lives or where his beard and supposed child are staying. He claims to live at 18th and Vine, but there are several believable rumors that he actually resides in Kansas so he can avoid the mess he has created in KCMO. Scumbag.
ReplyDeleteTwo people with smiles like a 1980's used car salesman. I'm sure possessing more characteristics than their smiles.
ReplyDeleteThey both look GHETTO. Cheap, sleazy used car salesmen in the hood.
ReplyDeleteThe Tiny Village is a miracle itself. Nobody that does Veteran Outreach believe the Tiny Village was ever going to happen. However, now that it did come to fruition, I've talked to Vets with PTSD who live their and are happy with the accommodation. In reality the empty lots on the east side are becoming parking garages for landscape companies. The only feasible way to provide housing is with modular homes strapped to a pad. KC Homeless Union is prepared to set up a cooperative to make modular homes for these vacant lots. This would produce jobs in the city and provide housing for first time buyers and retirees. No question we have to provide for those who have been traumatized or suffer from disabilities. KC Homeless Union believes that all housing developed should have handycap access. The production of aluminum ramps, steel stairs and awinings would be produced by the KC Homeless Union Cooperative
ReplyDelete^^^^^^lazy bums and lazy homeless people are two different things.
ReplyDeleteTiny homes for bums is very not cool.
Tiny homes are a simplistic solution that will fail over and over and over again. To address the homelessness problem, leaders would need to invest in facilities that would address mental illness, addiction and skill-building for eventually becoming a productive member of society. Those who talk about tiny homes are fucking morons who are too lazy and/or too interested in their own political ambition (HEY QUINTAN LUCAS) to expend the time, resources and capital that is needed to seriously address the problems which are complex and beyond the scope of shoving people in sheds or painting stupid BLM murals on the street. Fuck Quinton Lucas, the slick ghetto-faced drunkard who is using this city as a stepping stone to what he thinks will be an easy-breezy, lucrative political career. He is dead in the water. Probably soon to be living in Mommy Bennett's basement, his fake wife and child all but forgotten.
ReplyDeleteSince the racist mayor insists that we defund the police. Turn north patrol into a homeless sanctuary. Lots of room plenty of shelter, an indoor range, track, basketball and rooms for classes..
ReplyDeleteHAHAHAHAHAHA
ReplyDeletePut them in Parkville along the river.
ReplyDeleteThere's prolly hundreds of unused mobile homes left from the Katrina flood.
ReplyDeleteThere's prolly hundreds of unused mobile homes left from the Katrina flood.
ReplyDeleteGolly, Stupor Dabe, all this time I thought it was
ReplyDelete"Land of the free and the home of the brave",
like in the song you may have heard once or twice.
Thanks for straightening all of us lesser minds out.
Now can you put "Chuck" back online, please?
12:53, I'm well aware that the Northeast is changing, that's why I'm thankful that we got the last members of our Family out of that shitfest last summer.
ReplyDeleteEnjoy the shooting gallery life, the "diversity", and good luck.
7:40pm Evicted, huh? Bummer.
ReplyDeleteI think he just wants to divert the police calls from the hood to the mini hobo hood. Making Stats shine brighter in the darkest days.
ReplyDeletekansas city is a lousy shithole with nothing enjoyable in the metro. End of story.
ReplyDeleteDid someone harken for some lithsome opprobrium?
ReplyDeletePut them in Loose Park.
ReplyDeleteVeterans have a high suicide rate. Around 20 Veterans a day commit suicide. Tiny homes work well for Veterans working through PTSD. They were injured in a camp like setting so living in a camp like setting is good therapy. We have 2k new homeless people a year from all ages and from all backgrounds. Tiny Homes would be offensive. Being homeless exposes people to a level of violence that is strange to anyone who fall into these circumstances. Women and children are particularly at high risk of violence, death and injury. The mentally ill, the diabetics and every other disability is out there sleeping rough tonight.
ReplyDeleteI'm a veteran. Should I commit suicide?
Deletemy plan is to sell my house, move my parent's leftover furniture back into their basement, then leave whenever i want.
ReplyDeleteOr i could stay and become everything i fear: living a life in pursuit obsolete consumer culture trends and despise myself like i despise all of you.
^^^Veterans having a high suicide rate has absolutely ZILCH to do with tiny homes. Veterans need mental health care for PTSD, rehabilitation for addiction issues, re-entry into society. Shoving them into tiny sheds does nothing to resolve these issues, Mayor McPukerson, and YOU fucking know it. Whoever is behind this anonymous post is either Lucas or someone who supports him trying to gloss over the real issues that our homeless veterans face. Fuck you, you cynical piece of shit.
ReplyDeleteAdditionally, women's shelters are increasingly being taken over by unstable and violent MEN who "identify" as women which increasingly leaves women and their children without resources or safe spaces to go in the cases of domestic violence or poverty thanks to LIBERALS who tell us that any man who believes he's a woman or just says so is welcome in women's safe spaces including shelters, restrooms, locker rooms, prisons, sports, etc. You liberals are fucking sick animals who destroy the rights and safety of anyone who isn't in your approved category of "oppressed."
ReplyDeletewhat i suggest young people do for fun is stick a homeless drug addict in a suit, take them to the jewel ball, and watch them do all sorts of inappropriate things, disturbing a bunch of folks you don't really like and wanted to disturb. I have not done that specifically only similar. retired.
ReplyDeleteCharter some buses to San Diego Balboa park is nice
ReplyDeletethen if you feel guilty about using a drug addict like that, you can try to expand their horizons, make sure they go to AA, but more likely almost kill them.
ReplyDeleteHere's a link to a story about 50 tiny homes for Veterans that are about to expand. Again, these were homeless vets adjusting the best they can. https://www.boredpanda.com/homeless-veterans-free-houses-community-kansas/?utm_source=google&utm_medium=organic&utm_campaign=organic
ReplyDeleteIf the tiny homes are for veterans only, what does Lucas intend to do with the rest of them? Hmmm?
ReplyDeleteLiberals don't like to work. It's not in their DNA. They like to watch everyone else work while they sit on their butts, collect a tax payer funded check for doing nothing and smoke dope. Get off your lazy butt and get a job.
ReplyDeleteHow DARE these peasants resist the edicts of the King and his Jester! I promise there will be hell to pay for this. It won't be obvious, but it will come. Do you suppose they would have chosen a site on The Paseo, had it been called ML King Blvd? You watch, there will be payback for this resistance.
ReplyDeleteKC Homeless Union has over 300 members and growing. Other cities are beginning to organize homeless unions. People migrating from rural Missouri and Kansas because they have been kicked out by police who find them low use population. After prison they rarely move back to those county's that are depopulating.
