Kansas City police board votes to look at legal standing of funding changes

KANSAS CITY, Mo. - The Board of Police Commissioners is weighing its legal options. Mayor Quinton Lucas is a member of the police board. It follows the fast-tracked funding changes he championed for the police department last week. On Monday, the board went behind closed doors where the board decided to not move forward with the mayor's plans yet.

Moments before joining a Kansas City Board of Police Commissioners executive session meeting Monday, Kansas City, Missouri, Mayor Quinton Lucas defended a plan released last week that would restructure the police department's finances to put more money under local control.

  1. What people fail to realize this is the first step by Mayor Q to get his hands on the police retirement fund. This defund the police of $43 million is all about control of the retirement fund. If the mayor succeeds on this then the next step is to get full control of the fund and then mayor Q will have fun with the money.
