This week a gun fight and quadruple shooting that spanned several blocks and resulted in the death of a well-liked local has sparked discussion about the fate of the 18th & Vine Jazz District which has garnered more than 100 MILLION BUCKS in taxpayer subsidy since the 90s.
A glimpse at the conversation . . .
Fox4KC: Community looking at ways to make 18th and Vine District safer after weekend deadly shooting
KMBC: Kansas City fitness trainer killed in shooting near the 18th & Vine District
KSHB: Funding stalled to address 18th and Vine District blight
Luckily, there's help on the way and some East side leaders hope to move to the front of the line in the quest for more infrastructure cash . . .
CNBC: Biden aims to narrow racial inequities as part of his infrastructure and jobs programs
While the project has yet to devise a reliable profit model over the course of a generation and has actually endured longer than the jazz age, demands for at least 15 million more bucks seem to blame 12th & Oak for the lack of timely reinvestment.
Developing . . .
alot of that 100 mill has been embezzelled. Someday it will be a story nationwide like Benie Madoff's. Until them, just believe its all spent wisely. Every wonder how someone got their Benz money?
ReplyDeleteUsed to be the Media, FBI, and OIG were watchdogs of taxpayer funds.
ReplyDeleteToday, they are paid off by the Democrat Party to look the other way.
Throwing more public money into a proven loser is not "reinvestment." It's more aptly described as "business as usual."
ReplyDeleteLiberalism in action.
ReplyDeleteCNN reported that Diaper Joe Biden takes his clothes off, sits on the carpet bare-assed, then pulls himself along the carpet with his arms like a Golden Retriever with worms.
ReplyDeleteVery sad and disturbing situation in the White House these days.
Did Trump bang Stormy Daniels ?
ReplyDeleteMaybe.
But at least Trump doesn't wipe his ass on the White House table cloths like Diaper Joe Biden.
You get an Escalade, you get an Escalade, you get........
ReplyDeleteNO MORE MONEY FOR THIS MONEY PIT!!! NO MORE MONEY!!!
ReplyDeleteWhy are they still calling it historic? They lost that designation when they tore down one too many old buildings.
ReplyDeleteLying sacks of shit is what they are.
ReplyDeleteBiden has no part of infrastructure and jobs program let alone racial inequities. He has eliminated thousands of jobs, everything has gone up and now he want to regulate the meat you eat as per Kamaltoe Harris. So what makes anyone think he is going to better infrastructure he can't even string a sentence together he's so bad off with the Alzheimer's or dementia. Don't forget Biden was against desegregation. Oh and don't forget your job will be going to an illegal again.
^^and yet every single word of that idiotic screed has been proven a lie. Weird.
ReplyDeleteDr. Chimpy! Haven't you learned not to argue facts! Stick to monkey science!
DeleteMight as well send money to a tornado to hit that dumpy part of town. People don't go to areas where violence reins supreme.
ReplyDelete^^And how would you know Maude? You haven't left Frogville in decades.
ReplyDeletemeanwhile the rest of the city is falling apart but we can keep pumping millions into this boondoggle
ReplyDeleteMight as well spend the money on a publicity campaign about how wonderful and safe it is for white folk to live at Lockridge and Benton.
ReplyDelete2:56 for the win.
ReplyDeleteSure is a lot of violence there. Must be a Black area.
ReplyDeleteJazz? You mean insanity music? Maynard Ferguson was a bi-gay Jazz player who hauled his whole family to the far east and made them worship idols and pagan gods. LOSER! No trumpets where he went, he wont play again
ReplyDeleteMore money won’t fix it. Less negroes will.
ReplyDeleteThe dollars, it's always about the dollars...
ReplyDeleteI could see how listening to jazz would make one want to shoot themselves . . . not sure how it leads to shooting bystanders.
ReplyDeleteHow to make 18th and Vine safer?
ReplyDeleteStart by flooding the area with police and using stop and frisk tactics that worked so well in New York.
If that proved insufficient to curtailing the violence, install a 12-foot high fence topped with barbed wire around and place and limit entrance to no more than two places. Each entrance should be equipped with a metal detector.
Don't worry about having so few entrances. The "lines" of visitors won't be long.
Violence will be reduced.
The endless wailing of the usual "civil rights" grifters and SJWs should be ignored.
After WWII, the Poles placed all the German speaking citizens on trains and shipped them out of Poland to prevent future German invasions of Poland on the pretense of mistreatment of ethnic Germans living in Poland.
ReplyDeletePoland has not been invaded by Germany since 1945.
abandon this shithole already
ReplyDeleteJazz....Trumpet player Maynard Ferguson was a dude that wanted to have sex with children. Jazz people give me the willys
