ReplyDeleteThe book The Ravine really jumps around and is hard to follow all the characters. Maybe the movie will do a better job but I doubt it since the book author is controlling what the movie will be about. It is billed as a Christian book, but it contains new age and mysticism. Not something I would want to give to a new believer. Not all the characters were developed. The author seemed to want to make forgiveness the focus of the book, but the book is missing the mark. There is so many other themes in the book that forgiveness is lost is the writing. There appeared to be many life influences on the author including various people giving input to the book. That may account for some of the disjointedness. I think the author's intention was good, but he spent too much time giving back ground and flash back, all of a sudden you were at the ending - the ending needed to be more developed. Both the book and the movie is billed as a Christian story, but it contains new age and mysticism. Then you have a lady named Joanne is a medium…a person who serves as an intermediary between the physical world and the spiritual world. She talks and sees dead people. She is clairvoyant. There is nothing wrong with that…unless you are trying to spoon feed a Christian audience and have the character deny it.
