KANSAS CITY MAYOR Q VOWS TO 'TIGHTEN UP' E-TAX TELEWORK LOOPHOLES!!!

A recent South side visit with the city hall honcho was filled with the same old threats about horrific consequences of repealing the controversial earnings tax.

However . . .

Here's a glimpse at the future as the middle-class workforce transitions out of the office post-COVID.

"In responding to a question from listeners, the MAYOR QUINTON LUCAS confirmed that non-city residents who spent most of the last year working from home were eligible to apply for an earnings tax refund. “We hope to tighten that up in the future,” he said."

  3. It won't be long before no one has any reason at all to go to KCMO. Enjoy your tent cities and boarded up buildings. Congrats, you are well on your way to becoming the new Detroit.

  7. What does this have to do with blacks killing blacks at record levels?

Mr. Q keep ignoring. It is your best chance to advancing your political career. Dead black young men are not important.

  8. ^^^ it’s closer than you think now so....just because everything’s up to date inside the downtown loop the rest of the city has paid a heavy heavy price for ten years of neglect, burned up and abandoned houses and commercial buildings are every where, it’s only getting worse.

And lickass will happily give that $195 million in federal dollars to the developers, toy train and gibsme crowd, as usual the taxpayers get nothing but shitty roads, water, sewer and all other city services.

The entire city can’t handle anymore delays in repairs because we are on our last leg before complete failure happens.

  9. 6:27 ignoring the black on black murders, defunding the police, worst school district in the country and blaming whitey for everything is what’s gonna get him elected at the next level.

People are stupid like that, take Petersucker as an example.

  15. Vote Yes on the Earnings Tax renewal, so we can keep spending tax money on entertainment districts, convention centers, convention hotels, parking garages for luxury condos and apartments, toy trains, stadiums and subsidize underperforming TIF's.

  20. With more business being conducted remotely all a company has to do is open a tiny office outside of KCMO and declare that all their home based workers are working from that office. They might also route their revenue through these offices cutting off most of the KC profits tax and licensing tax on their business.

  21. The tighter you squeeze, the more taxpayers will slip through your fingers.

  22. It's not a loophole. Q wants to tax employees of KCMO employers who work from their homes outside KCMO and never set foot in KCMO. The justification for the e-tax was that those employees drive on KC streets and use KC services when they work in KC, therefore they should contribute to KC upkeep. That rationale no longer works when the employees do not drive on KC streets or use KC services. There has to be a nexus between the taxing jurisdiction and the taxed person. There would be none if Q fixes the "loophole." The fix would not pass constitutional muster.
