"The lawsuit centers on a campaign flyer that was distributed around a state Senate race between Rep. Mike Thompson and Democratic challenger Lindsey Constance. Kevin and Dawn Tubbesing allege that the election mailer insinuates that two $250 political donations made by Dawn Tubbesing to Constance, who also is a Shawnee councilwoman and now is president of the Shawnee City Council, were a payoff for a vote in favor of $3.1 million in incentives for a $13 million, 67-unit multifamily project."

An industrious Johnson County developer and his wife, a former Shawnee city councilwoman, are peeved at the Kansas Republican Party. Kevin and Dawn Tubbesing filed a lawsuit in Johnson County District Court last month that claims the party committed "false light" invasion of privacy.
