THE PITCH DROPS CONTENT QUARANTINE AFTER TKC BLOG COMMUNITY WHINING!!!

Some people say that bloggers can't make a difference . . . Most of the time online scribes should probably refrain from wielding any of their exaggerated influence . . . However, we're happy to report an important victory for the Kansas City discourse.

Last week TKC called out The Pitch for hiding content behind a restrictive registration wall.

Given that we're one of the few people who noticed . . .

THE PITCH DUTIFULLY REMOVED THEIR ILL-CONCEIVED REGISTRATION WALL FOLLOWING TKC ADVOCACY!!!

To be honest, our blog community didn't really care one way or another.

HOWEVER . . .

The magazine's roots are freebie and going against their traditions with an online donation gambit was a tough sell . . . And so we're happy management took our friendly advice given that, after all, we want to see that publication thrive even if we have our disagreements with their content strategy.

You decide . .  .

What's a magazine?

The Pitch is not relevant with or without registration. It just needs interesting, competent people running it.

Tear down that wall.

A Fagzine snot rag at it's finest. " I felt edgy reading the PITCH at 12." Weird

What used to be no longer is so. Sorry to see The Pitch descend so much over the past few years, but it was really only effective when it had local ownership, and that was 20 years ago. This is just the culmination of a lot of bad "corporate" decisions by out of town owners who turned it into a generic little shopper rag. If it weren't for the nationally syndicated hook up companies, it would have no content at all. The local advertising revenue declines before our very eyes.

Yes, but their staff does get lots of free meals in exchange for favorable restaurant reviews, so there's that.

^^Except the restaurant business is disappearing daily along with the complimentary meals.
