City boards up historic Sauer Castle in KCK

KANSAS CITY, KS (KCTV) - Boards now cover the windows of one of KCK's historic landmarks. The Unified Government of Wyandotte County and Kansas City, Kansas has now deemed the Sauer Castle unsafe. The mansion, placed on the National Register of Historical Places in 1977, was built by a German immigrant in 1870.

  1. Why did they wait so long to protect this historic gem? If independence had this jewel they would’ve fixed it by now. Independence takes history serious and thank god for that!

  4. KCK can find a way to ruin anything. The entire city should be declared a toxic waste dump.

  6. Tear her down. Its not even 200 years old. Its not special. There are trees around here MUCH older than then pile of bricks. Its a junk pile. Carl Lopp tried, but its alot of money to fix and he would have has he had the extra $. Just tear it down. Put in a nice mega mansion in a classic style there. Its a nice plot of land.
