Allegations of racism and news of a lawsuit tarnished the first day on the job for new KCMO City Manager Brian Platt.
His hiring was also marred by objections from Council and concern about a rigged process amid behind the scenes double dealing by Mayor Quinton Lucas.
Finally . . . Every Black Council member voted against his employment agreement and his hiring has worsened racial divisions at 12th & Oak.
Check this wordy roundup . . .
New Kansas City Manager Starts Job Amid Allegations Of Racism At Previous Position In Jersey City
But all of that is just the start of the story . . .
TKC FIRST!!! KANSAS CITY ACTIVISTS & URBAN LEADERS START BEHIND THE SCENES EFFORTS TO FORCE THE NEW CITY MANAGER'S RESIGNATION!!!
It's a long shot of course, but we've seen some surprising buy-in from a few local progressives.
Moreover . . .
Mayor Q's administration is losing public support and council calling for his resignation and threatening a vote to take down the new city manager might be more likely as AN UPCOMING BUDGET CRISIS THAT IS LIKELY TO RAISE TENSIONS.
Remember that a "palace coup" put former city manager Troy Schulte in power and all of those same bureaucrats who have a great deal of sway over council are still in place . . . With word that Mr. Platt might be Mayor Q's "hatchet man" ready to cut workers en masse . . . Forcing him out could be the only way to save jobs.
Developing . . .
So, you're saying he'll actually take the budget into consideration and work to create greater efficiencies?
ReplyDeleteFinally.
Sounds like a plan.
^^^ Lulz.
DeleteTK, the link from public radio that you are showing just seem like a smear campaign to me. At the very least they need to give the guy a chance!
ReplyDeleteHow dare this new public official! The absolute audacity to be white! When will it end?? Don't these people know that empty diversity hiring is the way forward??
ReplyDelete^^^ Truth.
ReplyDeleteSloppy leadership from Q. Once again he promised something that he couldn't deliver.
ReplyDelete
ReplyDeleteHey if this guy has stirred up racial tensions and the blacks voted against him, then I'm all for him. Maybe he is a blessing in disguise. Suck it up black Betty.
Of course, KCMO "activists" are opposed to pretty much EVERYTHING, so this should be no surprise.
ReplyDeleteIn fact, it shows he is actually addressing some serious issues that have been ignored for a very long time.
But the "activists" never accomplish anything and they won't again this time, except to make fools of themselves as their "demands" and antics escalate.
You can always count on KCMO to put serious government on the back burner and participate in endless silly entertainment.
Sad.
Give the white man a chance. We've seen first hand how the blacks in KC's government have screwed up things. He's not your massa you fools, give him a chance. Unless yo scared he may shine a bright light on your dirty dealings?
ReplyDeleteThat would be nice but the truth is that he's just another developer tool.
DeletePass the popcorn. This could be fun.
ReplyDeleteThe mayor should resign
ReplyDeleteplatt, welcome to the putrid heart of the bread basket.
ReplyDeleteTypical Urban KC council members.
ReplyDeleteWhat the hell is an Urban Leader? Are there also Suburban Leaders? This descriptions seem suspiciously racist, too.
ReplyDeleteTracy T is a suburban leader. She has her own great blog. You should check it out.
DeleteUrban leaders live in urban areas.
Stop being such an antifa bigot.
Will enjoy this guy trying to clan up city hall. He won't last thru '21.
ReplyDeleteIf you are white and in public service, you will be accused of racism sooner or later. The accusation has lost any meaning. The guy is smart, articulate and compitent. He deserves a chance.
ReplyDeleteIf he was lazy, corrupt, unqualified and black there would not be an issue.
ReplyDelete@6:28pm
ReplyDeleteYou don't have to be white and in public service to be accused of racism.
Just ask the corporate guys who pony up tens of thousands of dollars every year to buy off the threats of "racial employment" cases.
How do you think the KCMO Urban League is funded?
There's a very identifiable shakedown industry that causes many millions of dollars to change hands every year.
Sad.
ReplyDeleteif Platt fires any black city workers...Raaaaaacism!
if Lickass fires Platt ..anti-semitism!!
Trial Lawyers on standby..
Is that not the face of a man who you might see at Missie B's a lot?
ReplyDeleteGod, PLEASE get me the hell out of Kansas City!!!
ReplyDeleteUse him up as a hatchet man, then move on.
ReplyDeleteYet another case of BLACK LIES MATTER, getting attention. The fact the every black council member voted against him seems very racist.
ReplyDeleteMaybe we whiteys should protest peacefully in the heart of the plaza. It might actually save the blighted shopping venue to have it overrun with white, masked, polite protesters that actually have tangible proof that KCMO Is racist, but only against whites.
