TKC EXCLUSIVE!!! DEADLY KANSAS CITY FIRE DEPARTMENT COVID-19 OUTBREAK RESULTS AFTER QUARANTINE POLICY CHANGE!!! MEANWHILE, MAYOR QUINTON LUCAS DENOUNCES MASK RESISTANCE!!!

Overlooked by Kansas City media, an important first responder policy shift was enacted before the current deadly outbreak suffered by the fire department.

Our blog community reported this move FIRST and now denizens of the local discourse believe the note deserves another look.

Remember the money line that accompanied the now controversial dictate . . .

"Due to a potential staffing crisis that would negatively impact citizen and worker safety, KCFD, Local 42, Local 3808, along with the KCMO Health Department have agreed to discontinue quarantining front-line personnel potentially exposed to COVID-19 on duty effective 11.06.20."

Take a peek at KCFD precautions that are now in question as first responders confront increasing danger.

Accordingly . . .

THE KCFD QUARANTINE POLICY CHANGE HAS BEEN DOWNPLAYED IN FAVOR OF SHAMING THE PUBLIC AND A FEW CORNFLAKES OVER MASK COMPLAINTS!!!

Look around on local streets and notice that KCMO is largely complaint with mask orders and most residents have taken advice to mask up.

Still, the Mayor emphasizes the mask mandate portion of his recent order whilst a more important debate over the curfew has been pushed into the background . . .

Similarly, check the mayor's scathing indictment of mask deniers:

"Our mask resisters and anti-maskers are are not only distasteful, they're exceedingly disrespectful, they're harmful to the people of this region."

Nevertheless, the mask protocol already in place didn't seem to protect fallen firefighters.

We've been reaching out for comment and so far we've heard back from a few first responders. Here's the most relevant statement . . .

"I think we need to look at the quarantine policy, sure. We also should examine the conditions of some of the older fire stations that don't have good ventilation or modern accommodations for emergency personnel. There's a lot we can do to keep front line workers safer. Masks are only one part of it."

To be fair, we understand that everyone wants the same thing in this discussion . . . To prevent loss of life and protect fire department workers.

Accordingly . . .

What our blog community has noticed is that the blame game has been shifted against social media keyboard warriors and some weirdo gym rat from Lee's Summit rather than looking at POLICY like the KCFD quarantine rules that might offer more protection for the front line.

Check the links . . .

KSHB: (KCFD) Employees who are determined to be close contacts through contact tracing continue to work but must wear a mask for their entire shift.

  25. New Danish Study Finds Masks Don’t Protect Wearers From COVID Infection

A newly released study in the academic journal Annals of Internal Medicine casts more doubt on policies that force healthy individuals to wear face coverings.

    Wednesday, November 18, 2020

Few issues are more contentious in modern American life than mandatory mask orders. And the debate is about to get even more heated.

A newly released study in the academic journal Annals of Internal Medicine casts more doubt on policies that force healthy individuals to wear face coverings in hopes of limiting the spread of COVID-19.

“Researchers in Denmark reported on Wednesday that surgical masks did not protect the wearers against infection with the coronavirus in a large randomized clinical trial,” the New York Times reports.

“Researchers in Denmark reported on Wednesday that surgical masks did not protect the wearers against infection with the coronavirus in a large randomized clinical trial.” https://t.co/bKOENjCKVq

    — J.B. Handley (@GenRescue) November 18, 2020
The study is perhaps the best scientific evidence to date on the efficacy of masks.

To conduct the study, which ran from early April to early June, scientists at the University of Copenhagen recruited more than 6,000 participants who had tested negative for COVID-19 immediately prior to the experiment.

Half the participants were given surgical masks and instructed to wear them outside the home; the other half were instructed to not wear a mask outside the home.

Roughly 4,860 participants finished the experiment, the Times reports. The results were not encouraging.

“The researchers had hoped that masks would cut the infection rate by half among wearers. Instead, 42 people in the mask group, or 1.8 percent, got infected, compared with 53 in the unmasked group, or 2.1 percent. The difference was not statistically significant,” the Times reports.

Dr. Henning Bundgaard, lead author of the experiment and a physician at the University of Copenhagen, told the newspaper the results of his research are clear.

“Our study gives an indication of how much you gain from wearing a mask,” Bundgaard said. “Not a lot.”

The Times notes that the research “did not contradict growing evidence that masks can prevent transmission of the virus from wearer to others”—but adds that the study’s findings are at odds with the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), which just last week endorsed the view that face coverings protect individuals from contracting the virus.

Two important things should be noted here, however.

The Times is correct that the study “did not contradict” evidence that suggests masks can prevent sick people from transmitting the virus to others. But the Danish study didn’t test for this; as the paper notes, only healthy people were tested in the experiment.

Second, there was never much dispute on whether sick people should wear a mask. From the beginning of the pandemic, public health officials agreed that infected people should wear a mask to reduce the likelihood of transmitting the virus to others.

“The masks are important for someone who is infected to prevent them from infecting someone else,” Dr. Anthony Fauci noted back in March on 60 Minutes. “When you’re in the middle of an outbreak, wearing a mask might make people feel a little bit better, and it might even block a droplet. But it is not providing the perfect protection that people think that it is, and often there are unintended consequences; people keep fiddling with the mask and touching their face.”

Fauci would later modify his position, saying he discouraged masks out of concern of a supply shortage. But he was not wrong that mask wearing comes with unintended consequences, such as people touching their faces a lot.

    ReplyDelete
  26. CDC chief Robert Ray Redfield Jr. has gone further than Fauci, declaring in public testimony that “this face mask is more guaranteed to protect me against COVID than when I take a COVID vaccine."

However, Redfield’s assertion is not backed up with scientific evidence. As the authors of the Danish study point out, the World Health Organization “acknowledges that we lack evidence that wearing a mask protects healthy persons from SARS-CoV-2.”

.@CDCDirector Dr. Robert Redfield: "These face masks are the most important, powerful public health tool we have...I might even go so far as to say that this face mask is more guaranteed to protect me against COVID than when I take a COVID vaccine." pic.twitter.com/yPdsSSQAbr

    — CSPAN (@cspan) September 16, 2020
The results of the Danish study undermine the assertion from public health officials that wearing a surgical mask can protect individuals from COVID-19 infection, but that’s unlikely to end the mask debate, which has become one of the most vitriolic issues in America today.

It’s worth pointing out, however, that masks were not a divisive issue until governments began mandating their use.

As I’ve said before, reasonable and persuasive cases can be made both for and against the use of masks in the healthy population. But by replacing individual choice with collective mandates, public officials have politicized the issue and polluted the science. For example, scientists have faced retraction demands on research that concluded mask-for-all policies were not based on sound data. Additionally, the Danish study appears to have been delayed because medical journals were wary of its findings.

Few of us—even medical professionals, it seems—are able to answer with any degree of certainty whether masks are an effective form of protection against the coronavirus.

Some see this as a reason to force everyone to wear a mask. Yet in reality, the uncertainty is all the more reason the decision should be left to individuals.

"All rational action is in the first place individual action,” the economist Ludwig von Mises once observed. “Only the individual thinks. Only the individual reasons. Only the individual acts."

Public health officials should not be recommending a preventative measure—let alone mandating it—without knowing it is effective. (In public health, this is known as the principle of effectiveness.)

Governments forcing healthy people into mask-wearing was always an affront to the rights we hold over our own bodies and our basic human dignity.

It’s also beginning to look more and more like an affront to science.

He should attend a fancy dinner out in Napa with Gavin Newsome and Nancy Pelosi just to rub in his double standard. Maybe Andrew Cuomo could attend too.

Just where in the metro area are people not following the rules about masks? Even the people who are opposed to mask mandates wear them when going into establishments that require them. Mayor McDumbo is flailing at a straw man to try to mask his own cruelty. It is not about masks. It is about arbitrary and irrational dictates being handed out by unaccountable officials backed by the threat of destruction. It is about unjustified and overly broad forced shutdowns mandated by clueless idiots who are miles away from the bad consequences of their conniptions.

Just say it. They mayor is not only cruel but he is undignified and his deeds and words are beneath the office he holds. There is a reason no one respects him any longer and his childish tantrums are part of it.

When they see a narcissistic ignorant young Mayor eager to get face-time on the national networks, they recognize he's not concentrating on solving the problems in their city.

The city of Los Angeles has just recorded its 300th homicide this year.
Los Angeles, California has a population of 4 million residents.

Kansas City MO has recorded 164 homicides YTD in 2020, according to the KCPD.
Kansas City, Missouri has a population of approximately 500,000 residents.

In regards to homicide, KCMO is more than 4X as violent as LA.

  49. Walt Ehmer, the CEO of Waffle House, didn’t mince words when he explained his biggest problem with economic lockdowns stemming from the COVID-19 pandemic.

"None of the people who make the decisions to shut down businesses and impact people's livelihoods ever have their own livelihood impacted," Ehmer recently told Business Insider.

The politicians ordering these lockdowns have not suffered the same way normal people have. For starters, they still have their jobs. But it’s also more than that.

The reality is that many politicians have probably seen their wealth increase. The lockdowns have been hell on Main Street but great for Wall Street. The Dow Jones Industrial Average hit an all-time high this week, in large part because so many corporations have seen their competition sidelined, increasing their market share.

But the inequities of the pandemic go beyond wealth. Time and again, the pandemic has shown that politicians have not been subjected to the rules and regulations they pass in the same way every day Americans have.

They can make a quick phone call to buy jewelry at stores that are officially closed, as New Mexico Gov. Michelle Lujan Grisham did back in April. They can arrange an appointment with a stylist while salons are closed because these businesses are “not essential” (unless you appear on TV, in which case they are very essential), as House Speaker Nancy Pelosi and Chicago Mayor Lori Lightfoot did. Or, like Philadelphia mayor Jim Kenney, they can ban indoor dining for others while sneaking out for a bite to eat on the sly. Gov Newsome can go out for a quick $1,000.00 , meal with friends. De Blasio and Cuomo can go to the gym. THEY CAN DO ANYTHING, AFTER ALL, THEY ARE DEMOCRATS.

As the CEO of this organization, I have resigned myself to the fact that Joe Biden might be our President and that our taxes and government fees will increase in a BIG way. To compensate for these increases, our prices would have to increase by about 10%. But, since we cannot increase our prices right now due to the dismal state of the economy, we will have to lay off sixty of our employees instead. This has really been bothering me since I believe we are family here and I didn't know how to choose who would have to go. So, this is what I did. I walked through our parking lots and found sixty 'Biden Harris' bumper stickers on our employees' cars and have decided these folks will be the ones to let go. I can't think of a more, fair way to approach this problem. They voted for change......I gave it to them. I will see the rest of you at the annual company Christmas party.
