Kansas City Considers Downtown Future After Coronavirus Killed Development

Take a peek at locals desperately clinging to the Crossroads streetcar boom that died after a horrific shooting and was buried with the coronavirus pandemic. The chatter is hopeful and also completely separate from the current economic reality that has already lasted longer that most expected.

What do you imagine for the future of Downtown?

The first Imagine Downtown KC Virtual Community Workshop was carried out on July 14, 2020 - with 165 participants. Julie Pierce, Downtown Council chair, Mayor Quinton Lucas, and 4th District Councilman Eric Bunch delivered opening remarks to launch the community workshop. Their comments highlighted the importance of this planning process to Downtown's future.

  2. But not long ago downtown was a vibrant diverse urban mecca with huge crowds of sophisticated loft and apartment residents enjoying the countless galleries, entertainment, and upscale restaurants.
    The city that never sleeps!
    And THE streetcar!
