Kansas City Activist Scribe Explains 'Why America Needs Socialism' In Latest Work

Right now we share Summer reading for our critical thinking blog community and an invitation to explore and react to alternative ideas with something other than a bad impression of Sean Hannity.

Check the premise of this noteworthy local book . . .

"Due to the massive inequality and other issues caused by post-World War II capitalism, today’s young people are embracing socialism, which has been reflected in the U.S. by the ascendancy of politicians such as Bernie Sanders and Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez. This is not a new trend, however, as historical icons such as Albert Einstein, Martin Luther King, Jr., Helen Keller, and Mahatma Gandhi, among many others, spoke boldly against capitalism and in support of socialist ideals.

"Why America Needs Socialism presents a contemporary case for socialism built on the words and ideas of history’s greatest leaders, thinkers, and artists. Exploring their views and connecting them to present day struggles, this book is crucial reading for anyone seeking to learn from the past in order to change today’s world in revolutionary ways."

About the author:

G.S. Griffin is a political writer, activist, and the author of Racism in Kansas City: A Short History and Why America Needs Socialism: The Argument from Martin Luther King, Helen Keller, Albert Einstein, and Other Great Thinkers. A former Christian conservative, he is now an atheist and a socialist.

We were inspired to cover the new book release after a Youtube chat with the young author that offered some insight on his vocation as an author.

You decide . . .

Nazi Germany was a great example of socialism. Venezuela as well is another great example where same as 9 out of 10 Venezuelans live in poverty. the country’s inflation rate is estimated to be over 1 million percent or more. Under Nazi Germany you could be shot or placed in a worker camp/slavery if deemed to not be a good member of society.

Socialism ideas is what's killing our country today.

What could possibly go wrong? Socialism has only failed everywhere that it has ever been tried.

And yet it seems to be working quite well in the Scandinavian countries. Weird.

Helen Keller? She never saw or hear anything wrong with socialism. This is not a new thing the education system has been slowly teaching that socialism is good. But we know how ever socialism story ends, not one success.

Martin Luther King was a Republican, not a socialist.

And yet this proclaimed socialist writer is making big buck by publishing a book. Bib Bucks that they have no intention of sharing with you. Weird.

7:44 What innovations did the Scandinavian countries come up with in the last century? Almost every innovation that has made mankind's life better and healthier has taken place in the US or to a lessor extent Europe. The fact that a few small countries with a highly educated population can have a much higher level of government spending and still survive is hardly a reason for the US to imitate it. In fact these countries have gravitated away from some socialistic ideas in the last few years because they proved unworkable.

The proof that America DOESNT need socialism is the fact that with in 100 Years after the countries founding we were the gua t of The World economically so much that millions of people around The World gave up everything to come here
Only dying cultures embrace socialism because its people have gotten weak

Your wrong as hell 7:44. Stop drinking the Bernie Kool Aid. Weird.

It is true the Nordic countries are notable economic successes. It is false that they are particularly socialist.

The combined population of all scandinavion countries is fewer than Los Angeles. They are as irrelevant to The World as Canada and Haiti

7:51 beat me to it!

The sad thing is people will believe this crap.

We already have socialism. It's only socialism when it doesn't benefit you. If you dumbfucks can't realize that I can't help you, but here's a few examples:

Farm subsidies
Oil and Gas subsidies
Corporate subsidies
Social Security (I'm sure none of your parents, or in the case of this blog with dumbasses like Chuck and Bandit, utilize SS benefits)
Medicaid (see above)

The Scandinavian countries are not socialist. Just ask them. Cuba is socialist. Venezuela is socialist. The Soviet Union was socialist.

Silvestor orgalthorp said...

Theres alot of truth in that. All those programs you listed are such failures that they are the proof that socialism fails

Scandinavian countries have almost a 50% tax rate.

Plus, the United States taxpayer has been funding Sweden's, Norway's, and Denmark's national defense the last 75 years.

Soviet Union, Cuba, Venzuela, and North Korea have all failed miserably with Socialism.

These socialist countries are hell holes for the average citizen who live a life of poverty and poor healthcare.

Over 30 million of these socialist country's citizens were murdered by their governments via starvation and torture.

Even China and Vietnam have abandoned Socialism for Capitalism as they witnessed the failure of the Soviet Union.

Boomer Hater / Weird Guy is a Communist Socialist and we all see what an evil, despicable human being he is.

In the same way that a Ponzi scheme or chain letter initially succeeds but eventually collapses, socialism may show early signs of success. But any accomplishments quickly fade as the fundamental deficiencies of central planning emerge. It is the initial illusion of success that gives government intervention its pernicious, seductive appeal. In the long run, socialism has always proven to be a formula for tyranny and misery.

Anonymous said...

And yet corporate America loves socialism--remember the bank and Wall Street bailouts of 2008-9? Weird.

Anonymous said...

9:16: And yet there are several varieties of socialism that don't involve involve central planning. Weird.

8:24 Call me when society owns Microsoft, Google, Apple, Facebook, the Kansas City Chiefs, Cerner, Hallmark, Sprint, Arthur Bryant's, the railroad and trucking industries, McDonald's, Amazon, Netflix, WalMart, and TGIFridays. Until then, STFU, because government subsidies don't equal socialism, you ignorant tool. No wonder our iPhone-owning college students and protesters think Socialism is great. They think it mean free shit, but they have no clue.

Anonymous said...

And yet there are several varieties of socialism that don't requirement government ownership of production, although many of the things you mentioned are heavily subsidized by taxpayers. Weird.

Anonymous said...

^^^Why should corporations get subsidies and how is that not socialism? They're being propped up with taxpayer dollars, right? Not exactly the free fucking hand is it asshole? It's a fucking form of socialism. Corporate bank bailouts? Is that not socialism numbnuts? Yeah, I get it, it's only socialism when individuals get free shit but Corporations, nah, not socialism.

Fuck right off with your clues.

Anonymous said...

That's socialism--the Americun way!

Anonymous said...

Whoa, it's not socialism dudes, it's crony capitalism.....which is much fucking better!

Anonymous said...

11:14, that's horse shit. If the system does not include some method for public ownership of enterprises, it's not socialism, in any form. Reduction of citizens and potentially businesses to the status of government dependents is not socialism either, it's statism.

Anonymous said...

Wow! You need to share your expertise with the Scandinavian countries. I'm sure they'd appreciate hearing from you. Not.

Anonymous said...

Hey Weird guy socialist send me a free copy of the book.

We need more free TITAYS!

I can see where unemployed-weird/chimpy boomer hater would love the gbmnt to supply his family of Bonobos with bananas. As it stands, he has to supplement his meals with the fleas he eats as he grooms his tree dwelling family.

They are not socialist countries. The government does not own the means of production. The free enterprise system maybe more regulated but capitalism is still alive and well in the Scandinavian countries.

Socialism is a transitional social state between the overthrow of capitalism and the realization of Communism.

BLM is a communist front group. If a totalitarian state was formed the useless eaters are eliminated. 1st on that list are blacks. Every see a black Chinamen, Cambodian, North Korean ?

And yet there are many variations on socialism. Your ignorance is almost overwhelming, but unfortunately not surprising. Weird.

^^^^^^STFU asshole you got knocked the fuck out so stay knocked out.

Yet I have never met anyone praise Socialism that has lived through it. Weird. And I have met thousands from all social economical levels.

That is fantastic. I'd no idea anyone locally was writing good, smart things like this.

"Socialism is a scareword they have hurled at every advance the people have made in the last 20 years.
Socialism is what they called public power.
Socialism is what they called social security.
Socialism is what they called farm price supports.
Socialism is what they called bank deposit insurance.
Socialism is what they called the growth of free and independent labor organizations.
Socialism is their name for almost anything that helps all the people."

--HARRY S. TRUMAN, speech, Oct. 10, 1952

3:12: And yet your ignorance remains overwhelming, but unfortunately not surprising. Weird that you're never heard of the First Amendment.

4:09: And yet Chinese communism is not socialism, and you're a moron. But thanks for sharing.

"Yet I have never met anyone praise Socialism that has lived through it. Weird. And I have met thousands from all social economical levels."

And yet I would imagine you cashed the $1200 assistance check personally sent you by President Trump and will collect Social Security if you don't drink yourself to death before you're 62. Weird.

Socialism is broad and can include social democracies which have at times ruled France, Sweden, UK. They can coexist with capitalism.
