Under the best of circumstances this is one of the hardest and most dangerous jobs in town . . . Now, these front line workers are risking their own neck for the sake of KCMO transportation access. Paying them more is a MUST and might be easier if the bus wasn't offered for free.

KANSAS CITY, Mo. - KCATA bus drivers say they want more protection amid the COVID-19 pandemic. Bus operators and mechanics are on the front lines, driving city buses and helping keep the city moving. Now, they're seeking hazard pay. Their concern is heightened because of what's happening at other transit agencies around the country.

Hazard pay isnt enough, the city and the ata think that 50 cents an hour is hazard pay, they won’t do anything about installing barriers or protective equipment other than thinner than paper masks that come from China that are probably worthless. The cities response to their own people is pathetic and dangerous. Unless you’re management who have been working from home since March....
