TKC EXCLUSIVE!!! KANSAS CITY POWER PLAYER LADIES FIGHT OVER NEW KCI CONTRACT WORTH 80 MILLION BUCKS!!!

Whilst Kansas City elected leaders pretend to care about social justice or the historic homicide count, the REAL debate in Kansas City concerns an EPIC contract worth a vast fortune.

Here's the fun part and possibly a sign of progress . . .

DEBATE OVER THE CONTROVERSIAL NEW KCI PAVING CONTRACT FEATURES TWO POWERFUL WOMEN ENGAGED IN A BATTLE ROYALE OVER 80 MILLION BUCKS!!!

The background . . .

FIRST ON TKC . . . The public portion of this conversation started on Sunday with an EPIC FIRST STRIKE from The Heavies along with union and urban leaders.

And then . . .

Concern over bid-rigging risk and council involvement moved the fight forward.

Follow-up reporting noted a press conference focused on minority hiring but didn't really scratch the surface of the debate.

Whilst TKC won't pretend to understand he intricacies of modern airport construction, what's clear is that two leaders have emerged from this argument . . .

Bridgette Williams the first African American & first woman executive director of Heavy Constructors Association of Greater Kansas City. She is also a ranking union leader and longtime local power player.

Again, her letter began started the public portion of this debate regarding a paving contract worth 80 MILLION bucks.

Among her many valuable connections in KC, Ms. Williams has a close relationship with council lady Katheryn Shields who is one of the strongest forces on the council.

On the other side of the equation, Lisa Garney is a newer local biz lady power player. However, one of her companies, G2, serves as the leading Women's Business Enterprise (WBE) contractor with ESCO - The winning side of the big money bid.

Behind the scenes, it makes sense that New KCI developer Edgemoor wants to avoid union beef and the negative press that comes with this public debate. The council is set to continue this conversation in closed session and, whilst unlikely, a rebid isn't out of the question along with the risk of sketchy intervention from city hall departments and/or a ruling from AVIATION that could make this hot mess even worse -- However, if that happens look for lawsuits to start flying more frequently than all of the planes that coronavirus grounded at the current airport.

In conclusion and because we're optimists at heart . . . We offer a bright side . . .

WOMEN LEADING THIS EPIC NEW KCI DEBATE SIGNALS KANSAS CITY PROGRESS EVEN IF FIGHTING OVER CONSTRUCTION CONTRACTS AND MONEY IS A LONGSTANDING LOCAL TRADITION!!!

At the very least, we offer our respect to both of these power player ladies engaged in a struggle over MILLIONS OF DOLLARS whilst the rest of this town and the nation are unemployed, in fear of worsening coronavirus and distracted by petty culture war election year politics playing out on mobile tracking spyware social media.

Developing . . .

  1. I think you missed the biggest part here TKC, how this impacts the public: THIS is basically why flight costs are going to continue to rise for anyone who travels in the future.

  3. This is why we should always be suspicious what we're promised by city hall. They promised a cleaner and better airport, this project looks like a house of cards.

  4. Why solicit bids if it all comes down to politics? And will potential bidders on other parts not waste time if they think their bids won't count?

  5. There you go KCMO newbies and implants who don't know jack squat about this place and why it's in the top 10 most corrupt shit holes in the country.

  15. You call this progress? Looks like the same old Kansas City Shuffle to me. Just big companies using different spokeswomen.

  16. So what are we getting for our money? A smaller Airport, conflicts with the construction, and higher ticket prices. Sounds like a bad deal to me.

  17. ^^^^
But don't forget the waterfall, overpriced cold sandwiches, longer distances to the gates, and the plaque in the lobby with Jolie's and Sly's names on it.
Worth every penny of the $1.8 billion (and counting) cost.
Just keep in mind that NOTHING coming from the denizens of KCMO city hall has anything at all to do with the best interests of the public and you'll never be surprised or disappointed.

  18. So have they started pouring concrete yet? Who's K.C.'s best interviewing reporter? One that can sit down and interview Ms. Garney to see if she's up to snuff. T.v. preferably, but a radio interview played over and over again to listen to could work too.

Nobody says yes or no better than K.C.. Why take the chance?

    ReplyDelete
  19. A first interview question could go like
"We see you have in possession a new concrete plant".

    Yes, magnificent piece of machinery.

Was the plant purchased before K.C. decided they wanted a new airport or purchased afterward?

  20. We’re better off going with the white chick, she’s clearly smarter prettier and has A picture of Lucas hugging her like there’s no tomorrow!

The boy blunder has a thing for white meat.

  21. Crap, are those creepy Garney Kids making money sucking on the TIF tat now?

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. Absolutely. Garney bombed as a lawyer, then bombed as a jewelry designer. Once The Star wrote a big article about her NYC shopping sprees on designer clothes and the big bucks she spent. Now she’s a plumbing contractor. Not understanding how she fits into this concrete thing at all.
