TKC BREAKING NEWS!!! COUNCIL PLAN STRIPS KANSAS CITY AVIATION HONCHO OF AUTHORITY OVER NEW KCI AS FIGHTING OVER CONTRACTS WORSENS!!!
This week city hall proved successful at distracting "journalists" over an EPIC money fight at New KCI in favor of social justice stories and mostly powerless attempts to push back the pandemic.
Let's recap . . .
The Heavies & The Unions sent a first strike against an 80-million dollar bid and argues against awarding the contract to an out-of-town company .
On the record, there's concern about how city hall is going to handle this crisis and the threat of conflicts.
Interestingly, there are two main factions in this fight representing biz interests from across the metro.
The latest . . .
COUNCIL NOW MOVES TO EXPEL AVIATION HONCHO FROM NEW KCI DEALS!!!
Here's the legislation recently filed and just released to the public by Council Lady Katy Shields . . .
200580 - Authorizing the City Manager to execute an amendment to the KCI Airport Terminal Modernization Project Development Agreement with Edgemoor Infrastructure and Real Estate II LLC removing the authority from the Director of Aviation to act as the “Owner” as set out in Article Eight of the Agreement.
Thankfully, KICK-ASS TKC TIPSTERS spotted the move FIRST and provide essential context . . .
"Council is removing director of Aviation from managing construction contracts, they might as well appoint the contractors to determine who will now get construction bids."
To be fair, Mr. Klein doesn't have many friends on the council and insiders are honestly surprised he has made it this far in the construction process without being jettisoned. The low-key replacement in the contracting process is yet another sign of discontent with New KCI behind the scenes, amid a dearth of local reporting and more legal disputes on the way.
Meanwhile, promises regarding the new airport persist amid a worsening pandemic wherein airline travel won't return to normal any time soon.
Developing . . .
Better title: New kci cluster.
ReplyDeleteActually, this might not be a bad move. It's time for Klein to go.
Delete^^^
DeleteYep, his career might have to be scarified to make everyone happy.
And the infighting starts that all us smart people knew was bound to happen. Costs will soar now. Any guesses how much over budget the clown show/KCI remodel will go now?
ReplyDeleteWe don't need a new airport anyway dumbass.
DeleteAt least 150%
ReplyDeleteas long as the ceiling fountain is still there, i'm happy.
ReplyDeleteThis is an example of why local control of KCPD would be nothing but political based on the Council and not the best interest of KC citizens.
ReplyDeleteThis probably illustrates why Kansas City needs State Control over all aspects of City Government, not just the Police Department.
ReplyDeleteno ceiling fountain, just another kc ripoff.
ReplyDeleteOverall this isn't a idea given the overall mismanagement of the airport. KC made one bad choice after the next and now we're all paying for it.
ReplyDeleteSave KCI
ReplyDeleteKlein was never an "aviation honcho".
ReplyDeleteHe was an assistant director in the same inept KCMO public works department that regularly provides terrible snow removal and negligible street, sidewalk, and other infrastructure maintenance.
Putting him "in charge" of the airport was a joke to begin with and thinking he could manage a $1.5+ billion construction project that requires knowledge of both state and federal aviation regulations was yet another example of the lack of judgment and seriousness of spending the public's money that the KCMO electeds are so well known for.
This fiasco started out wrong with the secret meeting and no-bid contract attempt by the Slyster and Justus and it's just gone way downhill from there.
Hasn't hit bottom yet,though.
Hang on KCMO taxpayers!
So. Ow we have experts on the Council to not only know more than experienced professionals at the Aviation Dept. But also the KCPD. When I voted at the last election I didn’t realize how much expertise they had. This is nothing but politics, plain and simple. These folks aren’t representing the interests of KC residents. Too many clowns downtown.

ReplyDeleteGiven the current state of affairs, your suggestion makes a hell of a lotta sense.
J.C. Nichols International Airport.
ReplyDeleteYou are always wary of the City Council and their hidden agenda on all aspects of their policy.
ReplyDeleteDeferred road and sewer maintenance is "certain" parts of the City has created the problems we have today. Years of greedy council members grabbing money for their districts with no regard to what is best for the overall city.
Fire Patsy Klein aka Weird Eye!
ReplyDelete2:18 Nails it! I know this creep first hand and he’s always been a shit show - he and Sherri McIntyre both.
ReplyDeletelet's give them the $5 billion they need to do it right.
ReplyDeletethe airlines are going to pay for it.
How long before KCPD takes over policing duties at the airport? Most of the leadership up there cane from KCPD and weren’t worth a fucking shit when they were here. Chuck was a cocksucker and shouldn’t be allowed to supervise anyone. Walton never did anything for anyone and now acts like he knows how to be a sergeant. Funny thing after 30 years at KCPD he never passed the sergeants test. Some high caliber fucking twats up there.
ReplyDeleteNobody cares about the Airport Police.
DeleteYou’re right-call the maintenance guy when someone tries to get a gun on the plane.
DeleteJust like the Save KCI protesters predicted. New KCI is a disaster before it even starts.
ReplyDeleteeveryone seems very qualified.
