TKC TOLD YOU SO!!! KANSAS CITY MAYOR QUINTON LUCAS BETRAYS POLICE AND PUSHES 'LOCAL CONTROL' AFTER #BLACKLIVESMATTER PROTESTS!!!

Our TKC Blog Community warned about the push toward "local control" of the police department at the outset of this month and today the rumor turned into news fact . . .

Context that MSM has left out: Let's not forget that Mayor Q earned an endorsement from the police union and they have VEHEMENTLY opposed local control for years.

Insiders have consistently reminded us that KCMO already has "local control" of KCPD by way of The Board of Police Commissioners. The current proposal is really about "COUNCIL CONTROL" which might be far less popular with residents.

To wit . . .

THE NOVEMBER PUSH FOR KCPD LOCAL CONTROL IS THE BIGGEST POLITICAL BETRAYAL MAYOR QUINTON LUCAS HAS COMMITTED IN HIS CAREER!!!

As he fell to a knee during a recent Black Lives Matter protest, the mayor signed on to the #BlackLivesMatter demands that started with local control of police.

For better or worse, the odds are pretty good that'll a local contorl effort will be successful as KCMO is a reliable Democratic stronghold and the progressive agenda of the Black Lives Matter movement has a great deal of support from residents within city limits.

Overall police shouldn't be opposed to this. More city hall accountability is better for rank and file officers and gives them more rights.

Local control is the end of Kansas City. We'll be Detroit if it passes.

^^^ It'll pass no problem.

I agree with the statement, this isn't really local control, it's council control of KCPD. We've seen how well the council controls the rest of the city when it comes to potholes, streetcars and trash pickup. Imagine what they'll do for our police department!

Lucas wants to be in charge of more things while having control over none of it.

He wants their money for his friends and pet projects, nothing more, nothing less.

Can’t think of a dumber thing to do and the boy blunder keeps coming up with dumber shit everyday.

But don’t worry boys if this passes, we still have the 2nd amendment to back us up!

Just more proof that mayor mckneely doesn’t give a rats ass about the taxpayers, his allegiance lies with blm, I’m guessing this is another test for mayor mckneely to pass before he’s excepted into the blm family of crooks and murderers.

Seriously, how much more worse can this fool get.

This is just another empty bait-and-switch from Lucas, who knows there's no support for this in the business community or the legislature in Jeff City.
So he creates yet another "task force" which will recommend putting this on the local ballot, which passage in November is meaningless, but makes him look like he's doing the bidding of the mob and usual east side suspects.
It's amazing that somehow this particular issue became the top priority of the BLM mob, but considering they really don't know much of anything about a police department or how it's run, probably not all that surprising.
These folks will then fade away just like the "free rent" gang after Lucas promised them relief and then forgot all about them.
After all the protests, riots, demands, property damage, and millions in extra cost to the city, it's a shame that nothing of any real substance to address serious issues and increase public safety for residents will come out of all this.
But if you look at the people involved, that's not surprising either.
Not even a mention of community policing that worked really well in Camden, NJ.
Missed opportunity.

Local control with this council and mayor? The one's that gave kcpd a $10M raise during a pandemic and signed a "good job" letter to the kcpd after the riots? There is a reason why we do not have kcmo "local control" and it is because of the corruption of police, council and mayor. This is the same shit the mayor always does. Avoid the vote. He avoided the vote on the kcfd tax. He avoided the votes on streetcar. Now he is just avoiding the vote on kcpd so he can be a hero to the gullible east side and the organized crime of public safety unions. It is a great plan if you think about it.

Lucas, the council, KCMO voters... NONE have the ability to end state control. The vote in September will simply be to ask voters if they would like the City to pursue state legislative action. Only the state legislature can end state control.

Mr. Mayor you act in a duplicitous manner!

No

Quinton is a backstabbing chickenshit.

If voters have any wits, it won’t pass.

The state is not going to give in. Look what happened to crime in Saint Louis after they went local. Citizens complain about corruption, crooked TIFs and incentives, waste, etc. Why on earth would they vote to give Council Control to the police department?

^^^^That's the problem of late, those that show up don't and those who would don't show up.

Quinton Lucas, sat heart is a good guy, however he is experiencing severe distress triggered by Covid 19 and the George Floyd protest riots. All understandable. He is demonstrating acute personality disorder in the form of multiple personas exhibited in compartmentalizations experiences. He has multiple identities displayed before separate and distinct public audiences. He does not know it but he needs help and I hope he is getting it. If you read this and are his friend, get this gentleman some assistance.

We absolutely need local POLITICAL control here in KCMO. Just look at the wonders it has done in places like Ferguson, Baltimore, New York, Detroit, Minneapolis, Seattle and Atlanta. What could possibly go wrong if we had local POLITICAL control here in Kansas City?!?

Lucas is a compromised sellout who believes intelligent people cant see what hes doing

@8:14pm
I think what you're getting at is that Lucas is a pandering phony.
You don't have to be a weatherman to see which way the wind is blowing.
Mayor weather vane.

Let the public decide what to do. Like getting each office a AR-15, 10mm Glock and a bayonet, and night scope for the rifle. Yes, let the public decide whats best for us law abiding folks!

Police union is going to go after Lucas with everything they have. If they keep raising the kind of political funds they are, or increase it, Lucas is finished.

The issue isn't control, it's accountability. The Kansas City Police Department is accountable to no one. Rick Smith is a racist. The police don't show up. The KC PD "social media" perfected the art of harassing the community. The overtime is nothing more than more money for the police.

In the year of 1968 and the teenagers decide to leave school due to Martin Luther King‘s Junior‘s assassination.

The teenagers arrive at City Hall and the police decided to use teargas on them without reason and without probable cause.

The reason why they left school was due to Martin Luther king Junior‘s assassination they didn’t leave school because they wanted to.

The teenagers only wanted answers to what happened at the assassination of Martin Luther King Jr.

September 11, 2001 was a tragic day and I remember sitting in the classroom and the teacher turned on the television to national television.

I remember watching that there was national security issues and issues that was leading towards the national security act of 1947

No to local control. Local politicians can't be trusted.

The first signs of disorder in the streets of Kansas City was a stable student march, in response to the government failing to close schools across the city on April 9, the day of King's funeral. This was seen as a lack of respect for King by the students. Walking in the eastbound lanes of I-70, the students marched west toward City Hall, against the flow of traffic. The police officers lined up shoulder-to-shoulder. A black woman walked up and down that line, yelling and cursing. Someone from the protesting crowd behind her hurled a glass soda bottle at the officers. That is when the tear gas started.

Local Control of the Police is the only way.

So when I vote will i get paid to be doing the jobs of the City Council and Mayor?

Anonymous said...

Lucas is clearly over his head.
Donate to Police and FF union and encourage them to seek raises and haz pay with pension buyouts.
Lucas doesn’t have a clue how to run a city.
People leaving the Plaza area and eateries not coming back.
No protection or back up from city hall.
What about all the black on black crime and murders?
Not a word from Lucas.
Incompetent? You decide.

The boy blunder blunders again. TKC should just use that as a headline for every post about Mayor Q.

The Mayor of the city, wanting local control, like every other city has, is somehow "betraying the police"?

Really?

Kcmo is already Detroit

And we thought silver back was bad. Kcmo will never learn.
