Kansas City Star Considers Renaming EVERYTHING Amid Social Media Debate

Last week our pal Dave basically wrote this same column with far more skill and humor . . . Here's the newspaper reading Internets comments and commentary than forming an opinion several weeks later.

Check the link tease and then decide for yourself about the paywall . . .

Jackson, Johnson, Wornall: Slaveholders all. Time to change Kansas City area names?

Instead of the South rising again, monuments to the Confederacy have been falling like Johnny Reb at Vicksburg since the death of George Floyd, killed on Memorial Day beneath the knee of a white Minneapolis police officer. The same holds for memorials to figures who once held slaves or helped promote racism.

  2. Yep. Renaming streets and destroying statues
Studies have shown that this automatically causes men to stop getting women pregnant and abandoning their children. It stops joining gangs and causing crime
It makes people to want their to study in school so they can have a future where they work for a living
Let’s not forget the bonus that they will pull their pants up and stop murdering their neighbors

Tuesday night, in Madison, Wisconsin, Marxist Black Lives Matter (BLM) rioters (I will not call them protesters) defaced and toppled a statue of Col. Hans Christian Heg, who was an immigrant from Norway who died fighting for the Union army against slavery.

People took to social media to tweet of the destruction of the statue, and they confirmed Heg’s pedestal was vandalized with the words “BLACK IS BEAUTIFUL” scrawled across it.

  4. Waiting for the Star to do some serious investigation of founder William Rockhill Nelson and all the others who have managed, reported for, and written opinion pieces for the paper over the years.
Could be time for some name changing mighty close to home.
Once the whirlwind of mindless destruction and accusations is unleashed, it becomes impossible to control who it devours next.
    French Revolution, anyone?

  5. As an 80+ ex Marine reservist (No false flags here. My unit [thankfully] did not get called up during the Viet. war.), I miss my father, a Navy vet of WWII. At the same time, I am grateful he did not live to see our so-called leaders, at all levels, allow the country he loved and fought for turn into a third world shithole run by anarchists.

  8. KC Star's Eric Adler is silent on racist founders of the McClatchy newspaper chain.

He also says nothing about the systemic racism endemic within the KC Star editorial board.

But, those statues and fountains definitely need to be changed! Yes sir, that will fix everything.

  12. Killa City, Misery was part of 'Little Dixie' ... http://www.littledixie.net/index.htm

The dump, now run by descendant of slaves, has a long history of slavery. Some people find their heritage so disgusting, they are trying to destroy it.

Instead of worrying about a statue, or more, we should be focused on the removal of Frank White, Jr., and the Meathead Mayor, both of whom have no leadership ability.

  16. There is no such thing as "whataboutism." The neologism was invented by leftists who kept getting their double standards exposed. If you are referring to the tu quoque fallacy, call it by its proper name.
