TKC EXCLUSIVE!!! KANSAS CITY ELECTION WARNING: TEMPERATURE CHECKS FROM FIRE FIGHTERS ARE NOT MANDATORY FOR JUNE 2ND SALES TAX INCREASE VOTE!!!
FIRST ON TKC word of a sketchy tactic has enraged our tax fighter friends and offers a glimpse at the reality of local politics amid the pandemic.
To wit . . .
KANSAS CITY LOW TAX ACTIVISTS WARN AGAINST CONFUSION AMID POLITICAL GOSSIP CLAIMING THAT SOME FIRE FIGHTERS PLAN TO OFFER TEMPERATURE CHECKS AT POLLING PLACES!!!
Here's the word . . .
"I understand the need for new safety protocols and even more precautions to prevent the spread of coronavirus. No argument about that here . . . But some poll workers worry that our more strident firefighter supporters of the tax increase create a conflict amid fewer polling places and their work to donate PPE, provide temperature checks and guide social distancing efforts. I just wanted to tell residents that they don't have to submit to a temperature check in order to vote no matter what the electioneering efforts claim on June 2nd."
We've already documents the KCFD union paying very close attention to social distancing protocols in the lead up to the election.
Still, none of this might make a difference given polling that suggests a huge lead for sales tax increase.
Moreover, even without the threat of plague, these Springtime elections rarely get very sizable turnout.
