Hidden in the fine print of local mandates on coronavirus prevention is very questionable guidance on the printed word.
To wit . . .
KICK-ASS TKC TIPSTERS SHOW US LOCAL PRINT MAGS TRASHED AMID COVID-19 PREVENTION EFFORTS!!!
Even in restaurants, those old, nasty laminated menus are a thing of the past as new rules advise "single-use, disposable menus, and access to online menu on mobile devices."
The good news is that MOST of this info was available last month online . . . However, this leaves many independent publishers in a tough place given that handouts and well placed publications are part of their distribution model.
Unlike the daily corporate newspaper, indie publishers offer content that's tough to find anywhere else and the Internets no longer has the same kind of egalitarian freedom of information in a world of rigged social media algorithms and politically charged platform take downs.
Moreover, limiting any kind of speech and 1st Amendment rights over public health concerns should be met with skepticism and critical questions.
It truly is a slippery slope when quality toilet reading must be sacrificed to protect the nation from a pandemic by way of precautions that might or might not be scientifically sound.
Here's the word . . .
"The scary thing about the new rules is that print magazines will probably be banned from salons, medical waiting rooms, bars, and restaurants. They want no paper inside places. Even restaurants will have to have to throw away paper menus, no more laminated menus. They are telling restaurants to use one-time-use paper menus that can be thrown away or access their menus on their cell phones . . .
"Here's a photo from a grocery store near Noland Road that I took tonight. Obviously, people did not buy out every magazine. The store had to dump them. I took this photo around 8:30 p.m. tonight. Not good news for publishers who need distribution in bars, coffee shops, libraries, restaurants, universities and more."
Developing . . .
I guess they didn't need all of the wedding magazines this year. Those are what are on most super market shelves. Along with the trash novels.
ReplyDeleteI hope they recycled.
DeleteProbably.
DeleteProbably the same way that the mainstream news is recycling so much footage and bad news without mixing in any kind of balance or differing opinions.
Always wonder how magazines made it nowadays anyway.
ReplyDeleteAbsolutely agree about those lamated menus. Even before the pandemic those things were filthy bacteria traps. Hope that custom sticks around.
ReplyDelete^^^ +100
DeleteRex archer is an old out of touch idiot, why didn’t he shut down the toy train? Is he going to ban books next? How bout clothes? Cars? Drinks? Everything could have the Chinese red death virus on it. This guy is a paranoid old fool.
ReplyDelete0over 65,000 dead. Murderous women abort that many every month.
ReplyDeleteAnd sit in the front of the church. Hypocrites
DeleteKc and the surrounding SEVEN COUNTIES have 36 total deaths. That’s any county touching Jackson county. An example is Johnson county that includes warrensburg to give you a size comparison. We’re talking about a very large area here people compared to a small area surrounding St. Louis. There have been a total of seven new deaths since April 22nd. Kc has 16 total, Jackson co. has 12. Out of all the confirmed cases the health dept. refuses to release the total number of recovered people, why is that? Fear tactics that’s why, archer and Lucas are playing a game to make them look like hero’s and it’s not working one bit,
ReplyDeleteBut if restrictions are removed, the curve will go up. Are you really so stupid that you can't see that. Let's see you laugh when your mama gets covid.
DeleteHe's tired of living in the basement.
DeleteCouches with built in toilet seats will become the rage in a few years.
ReplyDeleteYes, newsstand is probably dead right now. Direct-to-consumer/subscription models will still exist but the days of browsing the newsstand, buying magazines at retail locations is done.
ReplyDeleteAs long as the Pitch is wiped out too, I'm OK with this.
ReplyDeleteTough shit- next case.
ReplyDeleteAnother permanent change.
ReplyDeleteLooks like TKC is the future!
Can't wait to get my mags at a location with a Starbucks , where people eat and drink while thumbing thru the mags they are never going to purchase. Maybe monkey paw it with Corona Virus and then expect others to buy it. Drool of the retards seeking culture and free cheese fucks that use shit instead of buy it.
ReplyDeleteI’m guessing this also means the commie red star can’t print the paper anymore? That would be ok with me!
ReplyDelete^^ True Dat. Screw those Commies. See if the Red Star pay their bills.
ReplyDeleteThe laminated menus have always been gross as the waitresses did not wipe them down like they used to years ago.
ReplyDeleteLeftover food, fingerprints etc full of cold and flu germs.
A electronic menu on the wall at each table would be much safer.
Or maybe we'll just be like San Francisco and s*** on the street
ReplyDeleteNot at all true at Mission Hy Vee.
ReplyDeleteMaybe the Star should print only a couple of days a week and then be online in between.
ReplyDeleteThey're now in some ways better off than magazines.
Magazines are by definition less timely and less truly essential.
Reading public copy magazines, such as in doctors's offices, has always been dubious.
Now, we're throwing subscription magazines way because we're too lazy to Clorox and microwave them.
ReplyDeleteMcClatchy is up for sale.
ReplyDeletesomebody could fix mcclatchy, but it'd have to be an owner-operator tough ass.
ReplyDeleteWho puts their phone down long enough to ever read anything?
ReplyDeleteTOP PHOTO -- ALL THE NEWS THAT'S FIT TO PRINT
ReplyDeleteQ: Have you heard about the new men's magazine started by a basement blogger?
A: It's called BARE RACKS!!!
Just because these shopkeepers open their disease ridden businesses doesnt mean people have to go to them.
ReplyDelete1125, a certain percentage of people agree with you.
ReplyDeletebut, a large percentage will go.
then, we'll be back to where we are today.
^^^ stay home if your afraid of living, normal people are being respectful of the current situation, nobody is making you do anything you don’t want to do...... coward.
ReplyDeleteThe only people you have to be concerned with are the younguns, they’re the ones acting stupid in public.
Love if only to finish off the pitch, used to be alternate, but new cali editor is full blown msm propaganda.
